Tallest Musicians

Who are the tallest you know?
I was watching this TV talk show on this theme the other night and they picked Joey Ramone as the tallest. Some other contenders were Krist Novoselic (Nirvana bassist), Peter Yarrow and Paul Young.

The Ramones look pretty huge in the footage! I've never seen them in concert myself.

I've stood next to joey. he was pretty tall.

john etheridge of the soft machine is too. I saw him play with stephane grapelli who was pretty short. it made an interesting picture seeing them next to each other in the dressing room.

 

Trace Adkins is 6' 6" and Darryl Worley is also 6' 6".
That is the same listed height as Joey Ramone.

I think they have about 150lbs on him though.

 

Art Garfunkel is really tall. He simply towers over that Simon guy.

 

Remember Long John Baldry? He was pretty tall.

Joey Ramone, Mick Fleetwood, Peter Garrett, and Thurston Moore all 6'6" if I recall correctly!

 

Scott Travis, drummer for Judas Priest, is really tall. 'Course, he's a drummer, so we might be playing fast and loose with the definition of 'musician'!

 

Chris Squire is what, like 6'4?

 

Danny Lilker of Anthrax and Brutal Truth is a really tall guy. Peter Steele from Type O Negative was quite tall. I think Thurston Moore is fairly tall, too. Andrew Weiss of Rollins Band was very tall as well.

 

I believe Simen Hestnæs (ICS Vortex)—of the metal bands Arcturus and Borknagar, and formerly of Dimmu Borgir—is 6'7". I always found it funny that when he was with Dimmu, he'd be placed on the far, far right side of the stage, away from all the other, more diminutive band members.

 

Peter Garrett of Midnight Oil looks like a giant...but apparently is only 6 foot 4, two inches less than Mick Fletwood.

Long John Baldry was 6'7".

 

I think you mean Paul Stookey rather than Peter Yarrow. Kenny Loggins also comes to mind as a tall 'un.

Shaq, though many people here don't consider rap to be music, and although I do, it's debatable whether or not Shaq's songs would qualify. He did record with Fu Schnickens, though.

I remember Blackie Lawless from WASP being pretty tall. I think he also might have been a minor league baseball player for some team.

 

I think Josh T. Pearson (Lift To Experience) has a beard that is as tall as Prince. Robyn Hitchcock is a tall guy. Win Butler played the post during the celebrity All-Star basketball game and was a load.

How about some tall ladies: Beth Orton, Aimee Mann, Taylor Swift

 

Randy Newman is tall. Bruce Hornsby is 6' 4'' (apparently)
