I forgot that he was diagnosed with dementia, and that's what he probably most likely died from.

I know he's been ill for a couple of years so this isn't unexpected, but it's still heartbreaking news. A genuinely lovely man and brilliant comic talent and director. I'll treasure my signed copy of Life of Brian forever.

I'm not surprised about it either, because he had been really sick for a long time.

Not a huge shock but still kind of is. I hope he didn’t suffer too much over the past few years. Tough year so far, and only going to get worse over the next few years.

Terry was an amazing writer, actor, director, comic, etc etc. so very sad. He was truly the heart of the Python team. RIP old chap.

Whilst it has come as a bit of a shock it is indeed no surprise, sadly... He has been battling dementia for a while now.

What a talent he was though, fantastic writer, actor, presenter and director of the greatest comedy film ever (IMHO).

I always loved his Python stuff, but I also really enjoyed all of his history series as well; entertaining, funny, well presented and informative. Thanks so much for everything Terry.

Nothing ever topped that first exposure to the Life Of Brian film in the movie theatre, holding ones belly with laughter and spilling tears of utter joy.

I agree with other sentiments - Python was quite the mind bomb for those of us growing up in the 1970's. It's hard seeing them start to fall away. Damn damn blast and damn Terry. You will be missed. RIP.

When I first saw this in the cinema I thought I was going to die laughing, I was in an agony of hysterics. If there is such a term...
Of course Terry got to deliver one of the best lines ever in a film (nevermind a comedy film) which you quoted in an earlier post.

A sad day but he is at peace now after what must have been some tough times for him and his family and friends.

  24. RIP Terry, and thanks for the many laughs.
