For some reason, whenever I play Elvis Costello's Alison, the line "well I see you got a husband now" always stops me dead in my tracks.

Has done for the last 40 or so years.

This song has given me goosebumps since 1969.

Listening to you I get the music
Gazing at you I get the heat
Following you I climb the mountain
I get excitement at your feet
Right behind you I see the millions
On you I see the glory
    From you I get opinions
From you I get the story

    'Werewolves of London 'is fantastic.
Warren Zevon disliked playing it apparently. Tired of it , I suppose.
There's a good scene in an episode of ' The Larry Saunders Show'where Zevon was a guest. He wanted to play a new song but they insisted on" Werewolves...'.

Every line from that song is gold. It's a song about werewolves with "awoooooooo" in it, but somehow it manages to be awesome instead of an annoying novelty.

I love when the beat first kicks in on “Give Peace A Chance”. I always thought a killer hip-hop song could have been made with that beat.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
    Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
    Still remains
    Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone
    Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
    That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light I saw
    Ten thousand people, maybe more
    People talking without speaking
    People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
    And no one dared
    Disturb the sound of silence
"Fools" said I, "You do not know
    Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
    Within the sound of silence
