Wondering if anyone knows about a 50th anniversary for The Band's third album Stage Fright? The past few years we saw a 50th of their first two albums unfortunately with little outtakes. Even though there are already a few mixes of some Stage Fright songs out there, it would be fantastic to hear a remix by Bob Clearmountain of this great album and the rest of their discography for that matter.

Not to mention a 5.1 mix.

It is such a great album, even though when it came out it wasn’t held in as high regard as the first two. It certainly deserves special treatment!

I’m not sure that there’s enough material to make a viable 50th anniversary release possible. There are the Glynn Johns and Todd Rundgren mixes. Maybe a Festival Express show?

It was always interesting to me how Stage Fright, The Band's "third" best album to many, would be about 99% of everyone else's out there best album by far.

I've seen the Festival Express movie and The Band outtakes. It seems they were on fire and some of the best performances come from these shows. Hopefully they'll do something with all that material.

But those first two were from another dimension.

There's not been great feedback for the other anniversary sets by The Band, however at the same time, I'm not sure every album needs an anniversary set (although I do love this album)

My favorite drummer is Levon Helm but my favorite drumming on a Band album is Richard Manuel banging in Strawberry Wine.
Also of note is Rick's fretless bass playing.:bdance:

There's been great feedback for the 5.1 mixes on the blu rays, which should be the primary reason the boxes would be purchased.

I personally think Stage Fright is equal to their first two. One of the great 3 album starts in music history.

I’d rather have a Cahoots box.

I just got a confirmation from RR son , Sebastian, that the album's gonna get a Deluxe edition,
Links will be posted here once we get the official announcement.

What would you like to get on this deluxe edition?

    Both mixes? a new mix?
I think we can expect the RAH gig from ... i thing it's..71?
We could also get a couple of songs from the Festival Express ....

    What are your thoughts?

It’s got to have both mixes at the very least. A few alternate takes and demos would be nice too.

I have the original Capitol, Hoffman DCC, and MFSL, so I don't need any remasters. I'd be interested in alternate takes and mixes like they did on the brown album set. Live recordings of anyone from that era are not that sonically thrilling to me.

Both mixes, all previous released bonus tracks, at least 1 full show, festival express highlights. Load it up, as much as possible!!

I'm guessing we are gonna get just a remix, alternate takes ...
If we could have the festival express on Blu-ray... That be COOL af .
But with the previous deluxe treatment we have gotten I don't think we'll ever get footage

Just a bit better sound than the original release and that’s fine with me.

I'm sure it will follow the other Band deluxe editions. So expect a new remix, a surround mix by Bob C., some demos/alternate takes, and a live show.

It's hard to follow a legend; it's much harder to follow two legends. Ask Led Zeppelin III.

    I'm thinking:
    • Stereo remix
    • 5.1 mix
    • Some outtakes and alternates
    • Festival Express live tracks
    • 45-RPM LP of the stereo remix

It would be nice if the Stage Fright release deviated from the previous boxes by including both original mixes of the album. Maybe on the blu-ray?

All but the last one, and I’d be in. I have enjoyed the stereo remixes.
