I’m reminded of an earlier comment in this thread - that Stu had a similar look to Brett Anderson (lead singer of Suede, English band, mid-late 90s). The first photo really exemplifies that.

I've had these for years. I have a framed and signed copy of the top one in my office behind my desk and now at home in my l/r.
Great site with lots of information to keep nerds like me enthralled for hours! I can't help getting a lump in my throat when I see the photos of John in Bermuda. It's not just the knowledge of what lay ahead, it's also that he looks so painfully thin.
Yeah, and he managed to turn the concrete and dirt ground of the Heiligengeistfeld into a green meadow - that is quite a feet....
