Oops, sorry @Dennis0675 , I just realized that's Sam Bush...last time I was here I thought it was that guy from Phish! In case you were wondering what I was on about...
My bad, I know the preference is for footnotes on all pics on this thread. I had a few Quarantinis and less typing was the right choice. The photo was posted buy Marcus king, he was at the store and randomly ran into Sam bush.
A grey overcast and cold damp morning here seems to fit with my outlook....so I reached for this while reading a book about mostly the struggle of life and roaming trout streams in the spring. The two often go together.
He does look like the Phish guy, doesn't he? Or am I just "trippin'", as the youth say in their inimitable manner
I just have to ask....it’s got John Hartford, Vassar Clements, Tut Taylor, Norman Blake, David Bromberg, and Randy Scruggs..... Sure, what’s not to like? Vassar is obviously gripping his bow.
I listened to Looking Back by Phillips, Grier & Flinner. “Little Wing” is a great cover, but this one is even better. Perfect album closer, that is, before the hidden track of “Old Cluck Hen.”
I never knew Charlie Haden was so deeply rooted in the Country/Bluegrass sound (from early childhood) until I watched the documentary RAMBLING BOY - CHARLIE HADEN. No need to sign up or join anything to watch, just click the link (and do it before 6th April)... Charlie Haden Documentary Streaming For Free Until April 5 (includes German subtitles)

I was watching an interview with Norman Blake regarding the Circle recording. Producer Bill McEuen didn’t have a dobro player session man. Someone recommended Blake and called him at home. He was sick after being on the road touring so he ignored the calls. Finally, he gave in and answered and agreed to sit in. McEuen didn’t like what he was hearing and he kept bothering Blake to play a different way. Somebody finally told him to leave Blake alone and he’d play just fine. McEuen continued annoying Blake until he finally picked up a chair and threw it at the producer’s sound booth. I guess things got a little testy.
Norman always seemed like such a laid back guy to me. Guess we all have our limits. Here's a new one (to me) that I had delivered this week. Mix of a more progressive sound plus some more traditional tunes by Stephen Foster and old timey classics. Even has some bluegrass trumpet played by his musician son on a few tunes. Both his son and daughter sing on some songs plus his wife and parents, so they get that genepool style of vocal blending going on.
Jon's always got a bit of swing in his strings. Jamming with Grisman tends to do that to you. Mentioned the other day that I was going to beef up my Dan Crary collection. Started with this one, Jammed if I Do. A fine choice, with some duets from stellar cohorts included.
