Duran Duran at Live Aid July 13th 1985. Duran Duran These guys and their music have given me much happiness since the early 1980's. From the first Album, Rio to Seven And The Ragged Tiger, A View To A Kill to The Wedding Album, Notorious, The Power Station with Andy Taylor and of course Paper Gods I love it all. Almost forgot Arcadia with So Red The Rose. Duran Duran Pasted the video above of one of my all time favorite Duran Duran tracks A View To A Kill. Just having fun with one of my all time favorite bands. Please share your favorite Duran Duran tunes, videos stories behind the making of the albums, videos and stories of the band members. Share your photos of your Duran vinyl or cds etc. Thanks and Peace to all you Duranies.
I met Simon in December 2011, the night before a Duran Duran show. I had my Rio LP with me, which I got him to sign. It means so much to me, like a birthday or a pretty view.
Rio is my favorite album of all time. I’ve only recently discovered how similar in sound some of Japan’s work is to the sound of Duran Duran’s debut album, especially their tracks Life In Tokyo, European Son, and Quiet Life. Either they were a huge influence or both bands took the same influences and came up with uncannily similar results. Either way, Duran Duran deserves full credit for taking that sound and producing such great songs with it. Speaking of influences, there is a specific guitar part on the song To Lose My Life by White Lies from 2009 that always reminds me of Duran Duran, I think specifically “Is There Anyone Out There”, though it could be a different track. Anyone else ever noticed this?
Great long-lasting group. I’m a Rio/Seven & The Ragged Tiger/Notorious guy, but they’ve done some excellent stuff over the years. A new Duran Duran album is always interesting and worth a listen.
I became a huge fan back when they first released the debut album in the uk. Rio took it to a whole other level. Look when you have a song like “Last Chance On The Stairway“ and it doesn’t make it as a single then you know you have a masterpiece. Save A Prayer always reminds me of the summer of 82, it was never off the radio and I never got tired of that song. Here however is my personal Rio favorite.
I really liked Seven And The Ragged Tiger, I Take The Dice, New Moon, Union etc all great songs. I Hated The Reflex, I Hated Wild Boys!! I loved The Notorious album, A Matter Of Feeling should have been a single. I loved Arcadia, what a gem that album is. EL Diablo, The Promise - Duet With Sting, just an incredible album. Arcadia is probably the best group spin off album I’ve ever heard.
Big Duranie here, with Rio and Seven and the Ragged Tiger being my favourite albums. My favourite singles are 'Union of the Snake', 'New Moon On Monday' and the wonderful 'Hungry Like The Wolf', which sounds more like the 80s than any other song I can think of at the moment.
They were my first favourite band. Pop bands that write & play on their own songs are an almost extinct species now.
What is it with this band and threads about them popping up here frequently getting passionate input from the usual suspects?! Starting a topic about this DD is potentially dangerous! We need to get @c-eiling in here! It ain't no 12-inch though!
