Was there an intended inside joke going on with this movie? I've never noticed discussion, specifically....the dead lawyers..... "Robert Lamm" and "Alice Krauss". There was another name as well that I haven't yet tied to a musician name. I remember seeing the movie in a theater when it was released, seeing the names under the lawyer portraits and sort of snickering to myself.
Certainly possible Grisham was a Chicago fan. Would he have known Alison Krauss in the late 80's when working on this novel? She had two solo albums out at that point, but I don't know how well she was known.
