A friend of mine has complained that Dylan's delivery in most post-2000 or so live shows is very Shatner-like. Unfortunately, a bell that can't be unrung.
Yes, Eep Hour during the pinball sequence, the intro to the Wheel during the foothills sequence, and maybe one or two others. IIRC, it's all noted in the credits at the end of the GD Movie. First time I heard most of that stuff, as Garcia hadn't yet been reissued on CD when I first watched the movie back in the day.
June '74 wasn't a half bad month for more than one reason. As I have (annoyingly) stated on numerous occasions, there wasn't a Travis Bean. Jerry played multiple Travis Bean guitars but, generally, two types - one with a humbucker from late '75 until August-ish '76, then more than one with single coils from then until September-ish '77. The humbucking and single coil Beans sound very different to me. I definitely think that his tone (not his playing) had less character as the years progressed. He seemed to want to have ever more control over the tone with as little personality from the instrument getting through. He said as much (as I recall) in a short interview about guitars given during the time he was playing one of his Travis Beans. I think that the custom made guitars from Tiger onwards produced (along with his amps and rig) an increasingly precise and defined sound. Some like it. I don't very much. On the other hand, I enjoy all the tones he got from when he started on a Black Beauty until the last days of the Wolf.

Same here, although the '68/'69 Les Paul/SG with p90s have that "icepick to the third eye" screaming tone in the high notes that really stands out.
Some years back they did a 'Space Your Face' blanket from Pendleton. Excellent quality as one would expect, and a stylish blanket. Do I need another?
I know this question is probably better suited to the "Got Jerry" thread, but, in general, what do you guys think of all the acoustic Garcia/Grisman material?
Love it. I think it's an indispensable part of his legacy. It's hard for me to come up with a player of another instrument to use as an analogy for Grisman on the mandolin...django reinhardt maybe? And his band was really great as well.
I think it's amazing and overall the best music he made towards the end. It sounds even better when played on a Sunday morning.
I lean heavily towards the first Garcia/Grisman album. I had that on cassette while living in Israel. We would give it to cab drivers for long trips through the Sinai desert. Arabia always got a big response.
