I have one of those, what I need is the thing that lets the computer read it when you don't have a slot (I have a Macbook)

    21 October 1978- Winterland.

The show opens with a short set by Hamza el Din. During Ollin Arageed the drummers teach the Winterland faithful how to clap along with the 12 beat jam, creating a deeper bleshing of band and audience.

Yeah, if you click someone's name to the left, a profile window will open, and one of the clickable options is to Ignore that person.

Why is this an Onion story and not an actual news story? It's all real.

"'Left untreated, the pain of Jerry Garcia’s death can be debilitating. Many of our patients have been suffering for decades without a way to alleviate the affliction. Fortunately, we now know that medical marijuana can help these people live a more normal life that isn’t consumed by the agony of wondering what brain-melting licks Jerry could have improvised if he just had a little more time on this Earth.'"

That's a joke? No man, that's real. I think many of us are to0 steeped in this stuff to get the joke. A non-Deadhead would be like, "Ha, ha, so funny, LOLz," but I'm like "This is a real news story, so what's so funny?"

In other serious news, I enjoyed quite a bit of 6/17/91 today.

I knew it, I was making it too easy. Probably a subconscious cry for help, really.

You guys have TOTALLY taken the sting out of telling someone they're going on ignore user. That was my A-bomb around here, and you guys have ruined it. Now, I'm going to have to spend millions, even billions, to close the Ignore Gap.

edit: @Archtop liked this post because he understands, as a resident of the Commonwealth, that when you get into a heated argument in MA, you must have in your arsenal the meanest, most sarcastic comment applicable to your foe and the willingness to use it. After it is deployed, you ignore that person for at least six months, and until you're both able to get along again without ever mentioning the argument. In MA, you bury that sh-t.

    Amirite, Arch?

Guess I'll listen to a "Throwing Stones" now.

Out of curiosity, as my de facto attorney, if I put you on Ignore, does your hourly rate go up or go down? What if I just ignore you without making it official? That retainer check will be in the mail at some point...:nyah:

Well, bad news about my external drive. Some fancy shmancy data recovery business says the platters are irrevocably damaged. I have no idea how.

That’s a heck of a lot of purchased Dead and Garcia downloads as well as an even greater amount of Dead, Floyd, Stones and all sorts of other stuff that I’ll have to go about reacquiring. Then there are the photos...

I have learned this lesson the hard way. I suspect it’s not an exclusive club.

I already had a generous PM offering assistance when I previously raised this. I’ll approach the Dead and Garcia websites with my records of purchase (which I hope I still have) and see if they’ll reactivate my downloads. I bet they don’t.

Now I feel stupid having stated the above in a serious manner. (You're not serious, right buddy ol' pal?). Again, you guys have defanged the wolf of Ignore. I hope you're pleased with yourselves because now chaos can be the only result here.

"West L.A. Fadeaway" on In The Dark--essential!

I guess "Tons Of Steel" will never lose its clunkiness. And then the sweet litheness of "Throwing Stones." If I was a bear, I'd dance to this. But then there's this whole issue that the bears are actually marching, even goose-stepping, and not dancing. I read that, and did not approve.

Playing 7/16/76 (DaP 18 bonus disc)

1976 is good for digestion after dinner.

The actual release -7/17/76- is beyond loved on here but I find it to be one of the worst releases along with #10 12/12/69.

Have given both these shows numerous listens and find them dull. Might be time to hopefully be proven wrong.

Nah, it's not too bad at all. I think the shadowing and cellophane is making it look bad. The bottom corner was dinged a little, but after taking the cellophane off I've since straightened it out. To be fair, it was packaged pretty well in double cardboard boxing — miles better than the crappy jiffy bags they use to send DaP's in! It's a real nice box set — looking forward to diving into it!

Edit — I've just had a look again at the box, as I'm ripping the discs and it's actually in pretty great condition.
