In too — even though I had to get up really early this morning to ensure I'd get a copy before it sold out!
Three are classic rock staples everyone talks about ad infinitum, especially here; one is a somewhat more obscure jewel in the crown of the 20th century....
One of them is beat into the ground on the SHF on multiple threads, with new ones sprouting up every day....
One group features some of the most brilliantly genius songwriting of the 20th Century and the others are the Beatles, Hendrix and the Dead.
Quick question on the giants stadium blu ray set. My wasn’t SEALED in plastic when I opened the box. Though all contents looked brand new. I was curious if anyone else’s was unsealed.
Hmm...you're saying the Dead and Beatles didn't feature some of the most genius songwriting of the 20th century? I'll give you Hendrix, although a case could be made there too he's nowhere near as obviously a genius songwriter as the others...
Well, I'll confess that I was exaggerating somewhat for comic effect, but in terms of lyrics, no I don't think the Beatles or even Hunter could touch Pete Shelley. He's up in the rarefied straits with Richard Thompson, Jonathan Richman and a very small number of others.
Touch heads get a bad rap, I was in that mob and didn't once knock over a porto potty, pass out on your tent on nitrous, steal your face, or your kind veggie burrito. Seriously you old-timers are such elitists. What's wrong with a little gate crashing and rioting?!
Is there a name for those of us who got into the Dead in the immediate aftermath of Garcia's passing? I want to be in a group, too!
Ken Kesey wrote a wonderful story about 3 visitations that occurred around the time of John Lennon’s passing, published in his book Demon Box. One of the visitations was by a character he named “Patrick the Punk” whose fundamental failure to give a F was off-putting. Your line about gate crashing and riots reminded me of this story.
Shoot, there's no way to specifically indicate tongue in cheek on this keyboard. Oh well. I was never a gate crasher but sure could relate to the desperation to see the band that was in the air at that wonderful time.
