Sonically great, if you like the era/songs you won’t be disappointed. Best Althea on vinyl.

Edit - the Without A Net Althea on vinyl is also very good.

Sonically, it doesn’t even come close to the other RSD vinyl releases. The worst of the bunch.

One thing to add to the Buffalo 89 vs 90 thing is 89 was the second stop on the tour and 90 was the seventh. There's a broken in feel to the 90 show and a freshness vibe to 89.

5/25/72, 4/22/78, and 9/9/74 are a few of my favorites.

This was the impression I got from the limited samples and reviews I’ve read. I don’t have to “have it all,” and I have plenty of boat anchors already in my collection...

I've never heard 4/22/78 or 9/9/74. Ill have to check those out. I'm familiar with 5/25/72 and agree its a great one.

Going with the ABQ ‘71 show tonight. While not as white-hot as the previous show in Austin (11/15/71), it’s still quite a lively affair.

Love his playing at this show if not a favorite overall. Brent was way too high. He looks possessed.

Summer ‘90 was a great time. I realize that’s the band I see in my head. Shows 6-8 for me were Cardinals and Deer Creek ‘90. They had bungee jumping at DC that year...lololol.

Jerry plays a beautiful little piece at the end of 9/9 that makes me cry.

Ok then I think I need to hear this now. BTW your old DPs thread is what got me further into the Dead.

I remember giving that particular Dick's Picks release (DP 7) a less than stellar rating at first but I'm smarter now.

Just listened to 9/9/74 Wharf Rat. Jerrys playing is spectacular.

I have two copies of Live/Dead.
An old CD, and a European late 70s 2LP pressing. I'm thinking about selling the latter because I don't need two copies of a same album..
Do you think it's a good idea? Can you hear a difference/improvement of sound?

I'd keep 'em both. One on each format. :righton:

Daedalus I haven't heard it all.....

I was listening to “Ready or Not” yesterday and I was thinking that the Fall 94 tracks were pretty strong. I haven’t taken the time to check out the tour on Archive. Are there enough strong shows from Boston/New York for a late day box set? I know the 10/1/84 Boston show which I attended and which was included in the porchcrusher box was a great show.

The best show from that run was already released on 30 Trips, so I can't see a box set being released. Perhaps something like 10/14 could be an archival release. If they ever were to go back to the Road Trips format of highlights from a run over a 3 disc set, Fall 94 would be a prime candidate.
