Decided to do something a little different - setup a bunch of brackets tournament style, with 64 head-to-head candidates in total, to determine the greatest TV theme of the '60s.

    Great thread idea.

Easy one here as the Brady Bunch is my favorite sitcom

I think it's a great idea too, but I'm worried it's gonna get unwieldly and I don't want to flood the forum with my stupid posts. I think I'm gonna keep it to 6 a day roughly, and leave the polls open for 7 days...

I've gotta keep track of the individual polls somewhere as well and maybe post links to all of them in the subsequent poll posts...

I assume the theme from "Batman" will show up at some point and shut out the competition after a brutal battle against "I Dream of Jeannie."

In any case, I voted for the theme from "The Brady Bunch" this time around.

I'm not sure who's gonna be the ultimate winner. I did try to pair like show against like show - so themed sitcom against similar themed sitcom, or cop show against cop show, etc. Cartoon vs. cartoon.

I do suspect Batman will do really well, although I think at least half a dozen '60s shows had even better themes.

I am surprised how many really big shows (at least at the time) had really lame themes. The best themes often belonged to cartoons, or to shows that were in the middle of the ratings pack (at best).

I voted for Martian, and I'm surprised to see how well it's doing against the far better-known Brady Bunch. I just think it's a killer little theme tune.

    Great thread idea :edthumbs:

We should pit the winner against "Kolchak, the Night Stalker", which would win my vote:D:D

But here I vote for "The Brady Bunch", great song that never gets old :)

Are there any British tv themes included at all?
The Avengers, Steptoe & Son, Dads Army, Top Of The Pops, Morecambe & Wise, TW3, Tomorrow’s World, etc etc

1969 vs 1963. Is that fair? Favorites are often determined by familiar.

I'm guessing the majority of forum members are more familiar with both programs from syndication than from when they originally ran.

Jeannie surprisingly enough is having trouble fending off Samantha...

Not really surprising they both have great themes but Bewitched is probably more popular

Looks like it could go either way though

But regardless neither are beating the likes of Star Trek,Hawaii 5-0,Gilligan's Island etc

Whilst I appreciate and applaud your passion, this is really jamming out my post feed. It’s almost like a Denial of Service attack on any other thread. Could this be rethought please?

Well I won't be doing it this way again - too much work! The posting should die down now, though.

Perhaps another way would be to group them into 2 or 3 polls with 25 options each then from there the most popular 25 themes go into a final single poll?

Maybe. I think you can control the # of options people can vote for, so maybe 25 options and let people vote for 5 in each poll, then do the runoff from there?

It's not quite the same as separate head-to-head matches, tho.
