If anyone is interested, 20 Golden Greats is still floating around cheap. Sub a £5-er on Amazon, and I picked up a sealed copy in my local supermarket for £3! Nice. It's manufactured in EU by Optimal Media Productions, whomever they are?
I think it sounded, in general, a little bit bright up top, not a big problem by any length, but it could do with rounding off just a little. I guess different systems will make that more or less of an issue (my PC setup adds a bit more top too!).

Just picked up All the Hits from a great board member. Listened to disc one this afternoon and it really sounds great. Well worth getting for any Hollies fan.

Care to share the mono/stereo breakdown? I'd be happy if you just list the lesser number of tracks, mono or stereo. Then I'll know the non-listed titles are the other configuration.

Completely different version and The Hollies did not back them on any of the tracks. It was Jimmy Page on guitar, Andy White (that Andy White) on drums, John Paul Jones on bass and Arthur Greenslade on keys. If there is other info out there it is unknown. The source for this info comes from the seesionography from the Bear Family box set Chained To A Memory.

The following was recorded at Decca's West Hampstead studios May 14, 1966
    Don't Run And Hide
    Have You Ever Loved Somebody
    Fifi The Flea
    Hard Hard Year
    Like Every Time Before
    Signs That Will Never Change

The rest was recorded at United Recording in Hollywood June 2, 1966 featuring James Burton and Glenn Campbell on guitars.
    The Collector (Sonny Curtis)
    So Lonely
    I've Been Wrong Before
Kiss Your Man Goodbye (Don Everly-Phil Everly)
    Pretty Flamingo
    Somebody Help Me

And I just realized this thread started in 2007:oops:

Hi, I'd love to read part 1 of this thread, but the link takes me to the "forums" page. How do I find the original thread?

THE HOLLIES: The EP Collection See For Miles SEE CD 94

anyone know if all pressings have the same mastering? i've seen an older '80s version (made in France), and a newer one with a 1995 copyright date (made in the EC) and a clear jewel case (w/ artwork behind the CD). same catalog number, however.

EAC doesn't seem to think so. When I ripped my copy to the computer a month or so ago, EAC noticed mine as a unique mastering. The hub says, "Mastered by Mayking." Packaging mentions 1995. CD mentions 1989.

I can provide EAC numbers if it will help.

Just picked up 20 Golden Greats on a flee market with matrix 01 MADE IN W.GERMANY BY PDO in smooth sided jewel. As good as new, barely played. Kind early isn't it?

Sounds amazing. But the mix. Boy, it is really WIDE STEREO.

If it must be stereo, this is the disk to have (and the two disk set as well).

How I wish they would have done this in mono as well. That mono mixes of BUS STOP and LOOK THROUGH ANY WINDOW, among others, blow me away (from the mono Parlophone "Best Of", 1968).

Bad tapes, fake HDCD decoding. I've never heard anything good on Magic. Listening to The Epic Anthology right now.

    ^BUMP regarding TOCP-7543. Anyone?

Track listing includes Stay with The Hollies album tracks + a few singles from the era.

Seems that the following are mono:

    Yes I Will
    Look Through Any Window
    Watcha Gonna Do About
What Kind of Girl Are You
    Candy Man
    Searchin
