BLUE WORLD John Coltrane (Impulse!) CD with John Coltrane (tenor sax), McCoy Tyner (piano), Jimmy Garrison (bass), Elvin Jones (drums) / Recorded 1964. CD mastered by Kevin Reeves from original mono tapes. CD packaged in triple gatefold cardboard sleeve. Playing time is just over 36 minutes and there is a 12 page booklet included. Some selections from these recordings featured in the 1964 film Le chat dans le sac (Cat in the bag). A most welcome short and sweet release. Although I have only heard it through once time I have no hesitation in giving it the thumbs up.

In my very early collecting years I owned a Jazztone sampler with Slam Stewart hummin to his bowed solos. I liked that very much. Have to look up slam again to find more recordings. He is really an individual with that sound- Added Info: Discogs lists about 53 albums with Slam Stewart playing on them. Worth to look up. Slam Stewart

I've heard this for the third time now, I got the Japanese SHM-CD in yesterday and listened to it. Comes in a jewel box.
Slim’s Jam is one of the great songs of the bop era. Phil Schaap once spent a whole show or two analyzing it. A song I never tire of listening to. Charlie Parker talks on "Slim's Jam" Slim Gaillard & Orchestra vout "Charlie Yardbirdarooney" comedy
