NP: John Patton – Along Came John Label: Blue Note – 7243 8 31915 2 9 Format: CD, Album, Reissue Country: US Released: 2000 Drums – Ben Dixon Guitar – Grant Green Organ – John Patton Tenor Saxophone – Fred Jackson, Harold Vick Recorded April 5, 1963. I love Green's solo on the first track - and the 2 tenors here are just stone cold badasses. Anyone which sax player carries that first tune out at the end? It's a real grimy solo and I don't know which of these guys it is.
(CD Riverside US Press 3RCD-4443-2) 2005 .... recorded June 25th, 1961 @ The Village Vanguard .... obviously a true Bill Evans classic with Scott LaFaro (b) + Paul Motian (dr) .... already contemplated about Scott LaFaro`s factual dominance within these performances before, whereby his astounding technique is captured to perfection here .... captivating music with a priceless Joe Tarantino remastering ....

(CD Dootone Boplicity Records UK Press CDBOP 007) 1996 .... recorded April 1958 @ Los Angeles, California .... Harold Land (ts) + Rolf Ericson (tp) + Elmo Hope (p) + Curtis Counce (b) + Frank Butler (dr) .... Curtis Counce never recorded a less than excellent session, but this (actually his last one) has the pure luxury of the Elmo Hope + Frank Butler combo .... and Harold Land is really sensational here .... underappreciated gem - probably due to an original release on the small Californian Dootone label - but this Boplicity edition with a excellent bonus track from the mid 90`s perfectly fits the bill ....
