Wonder what version this will be. The John Schroeder Orchestra single version was on the Kinked comp in 2016, and a version apparently by the Mike Cotton sound is on the Kinks at the Rainbow special as included on Kinks at the BBC box. Apparently the version used in the film is different from both of them though.

I wonder if the “Alternate Stereo Mixes” on Disc 1 are remixes akin to those on Disc 3 of the VGPS Box? The 2019 Mixes on Disc 4 could then be a reimagined Mix... who knows!

Ok, I didn't know any version has been released, I've only heard the one on the Lost Kinks Album bootleg, is that any of the two versions you mentioned?

Not quite as packed and tempting as the VGPS box, but certainly worth considering just for disc 4... I wonder if there will be a new 2 cd version and what will be on it?

I used to have that bootleg but don't have it to hand. The Unofficial Kinks website seems to suggest that the version on the bootleg is an unreleased version from the film arranged by Peter Greenwell. Lyrics for "The Virgin Soldier March/Ballad Of The Virgin Soldier"

I see there was also a 1970 recording by Leon Bibb released in the US.

Would need to sit down and compare all these versions to work out differences. Apparently Pete Quaife is on bass on one of them, probably the film soundtrack version.

I'd say it's very disapointing regarding the tracklist but it's a relief for my wallet !

I'm getting it, but I am really disappointed there are only two remixes included. At least one of the remixes is Shangri-La, the song that needs it the most. I wonder if the multis are missing, or did Ray not want to bother with a full album remix...

    The price is reasonable, though.

Thanks! The 2 CD is a bit disappointing - looks like all of the tracks on disc 4 are exclusive box bait.

If there'll be a stereo vinyl remastered to the same standard as Village Green, I'll be interested.

    UPD: There will be

I have a feeling, those alternate mixes on CD 1 are remixes!

I was probably already skipping it :righton: Floyd and Bowie are possibilities though, along with the forever promised but never delivered Small Faces Autumn Stone.

I was scared there would be nothing left to put on this box set...I’ll say I was half way there.

I’m just glad we’ll finally get a nice mix of Shangri-La...unless they forget to line up all the instruments like a couple of the remixes from the last box set.

I mean, we have a perfect backing track, all it would take is the vocals... fingers crossed.

Very disappointed in this. Not an automatic purchase like the VGPS box.
