I didn't even know an extended mix existed !? Is the extended version more of an instrumental or a verse, chorus and bridge ? Hmmmm
Browsing through my 12" shelves today I came across a record I hadn't played for ages. I still like this a lot and it currently underscores my personal Labour Ethos as well:
Going back over a decade here. One of Iron Maiden's First Ten Years double 12" issues from 1990. Probably whichever one had Twilight Zone on it.
It's a little more instrumental intro, tempo is a little different, song is longer, not sure of running time as I am at work. The 12" disc is the same on both sides.
I've only owned one 12 inches single -- That's All (Genesis) I was actually interested in the b-side, which was a live version of "Firth of Fifth" from the Abacab tour. I bought it in 1988 or 1989 and only played it a few times -- it was poorly manufactured and it was hard to fit into the record player so I recorded it into tape. I haven't played it since 1989 probably and I do not have it anymore.
Funny to see all the Joy Division/New Order posts. My last 12" single played was New Order's "Ceremony" -- the original, March 1981 release. I have a French import copy of the 12" I got at a record show very cheap when people were practically giving away vinyl circa 1994.
Safety Dance - Men Without Hats. The 12'' is sooooo good! If you like this song...you gotta check it out.
It’s been some time since it was played, but it would most likely have been New Order - Tutti Frutti. I’m sure that’s what it was because it’s one of my wife’s favorites, and we only have maybe six 12” singles in the house, half of them being New Order...
I wonder if they might be the most popular/respected artist to have insisted on releasing 12” singles for such a long period of time? Because, yes, I see a theme here...
