MACHETE MAIDENS UNLEASHED - Documentary about the wild and wooly world of Philippine action films
in the 70s, focusing mainly on the Roger Corman produced exploitation vehicles. Lots of interview with actors,
directors, and crew people. Funny, fascinating, and a fun ride.

DOC OF THE DEAD - Documentary taking a look at the zombie craze, its roots, and cultural impact. Good for
the talking heads, despite annoying comedy relief bits that pop up throughout.

Good Ole Freda about the Beatles fan club secretary. Nicely done, several Beatles songs in the film.

THE FRISCO KID - A Rabbi (Gene Wilder) and a bank robber (Harrison Ford) travel across the wild, wild west to San Francisco, meeting
up with Indians, thieves, and other colorful characters along the way. Really funny, and pretty much forgotten today.

Remember seeing it when I was younger and getting off on it, but it really didn't hold up well at all - hit the kill switch after about 70 minutes, which s pretty bad as at that point I'm usually invested enough to see it through. Also, if Mrs DC says she's done...yeah, time to kill it.

Back To The Future on blu ray is spinning right now, 26 minutes into it.

It's a cool, comfortable June late at night and a Bellatoria cheese pizza just came out of the oven.
I amped up the pizza with diced up leftover steak, fresh pepper and Italian seasoning.

"this is what makes time travel possible, the flux capacitor". "Old Man Peabody owned all of this, he had this crazy idea of breeding pine trees. "

God I love this movie, and it is startlingly clear on blu ray.

The Royal Hunt In The Sun (1969).
    A bit stagey, wordy, wordy.
But Christpoher Plummer excelled as the Inca God.

    Rocky IV.
Great pop video montage in this one.
Quite a few actors auditioned to play Drago...Tom Cruise, Liam Neeson, Mel Gibson and Arnie etc......
Underrated in the Rocky Series imo.

A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST - About the best thing I can say about it is that it was nicely shot. Some really lovely Monument Valley panoramas. Nice assembly of character actors, too.
Didn't care for the poo jokes, drug jokes, rectal and bodily fluid fascination, and overall smug/mean tone of the flick. While I was watching it, I was wondering if you could do a
fan edit and cut out as much of the comedy as possible and be left with a decent western. Made me yearn to watch BLAZING SADDLES or THE FRISCO KID again, both infinitely
    funnier flicks.

MALEFICENT - Some really great visuals at times, but overall I found it kinda dull. Sort of an 80-minute preamble to a 15-minute retelling of SLEEPING BEAUTY. Saw it in 3D, but the effect didn't
make itself known enough for me to recommend anyone paying extra for it.

"The Criminal Code" [1931] from the TCM Boris Karloff "Criminal Kind" box set.

It was very good, and Karloff (while not one of the stars) played a key part in the story.

Ghost Story with Alice Krige and Fred Astaire. Not gory but very very spooky.

Philomena. Exactly like 'The Trip' and 'The Trip to Italy' but with Dame Judi Dench instead of Robert Brydon. ;)

I love this movie. Not perfect, but very spooky. The book is quite good as well.
