Game of Thrones (season three) Much higher production values than the previous season. Episode nine shows how much violence can and can't be shown in different scenes, plus there's some real laughs in the first ten minutes. If you want to write for television this and the following episode will give you more pointers than a three year course. Lot's of nastiness that's ruined lesser series (Handmaid's Tale, Homeland) but plays well here because of the multi-level storytelling.

Time Warp: The Greatest Cult Films. Host Joe Dante (Gremlins) hosts a round table discussion on midnight cult movies. I've watched the first episode and it's one of the greatest things ever shown on TV. Gary Busey (talking about Point Break) is totally insane.

Having got my dvd set, I watched The Americans Pilot Episode. The story starts to take its course, but two things stood out for me. The first is Philip's re-encounter scene with April Wine's 'Roller' as background-great fun. The second is in the motel where the two stand at the air conditioner-love that moment.

Easy Riders and Raging Bulls (BBC 2002) Doco about the maverick directors that turned up at the end of the 60s, shook things up and ended up running Hollywood. Explained in such a simple way even I could understand it. ... and remember everything starts with The Monkees

The Head. Though predictable (around episode 2 or 3 you know whats going on), still a great miniseries.
There's something about the great, wide Artic and the confined spaces people live that makes this stuff a good watch.

Finished Season 1 - I thought it was excellent. Wish I had a coach like him when I was playing hockey.
