Ok, with that last post being a downer, True. But I digress , the 2011 dvd sets look GREAT, maybe it’s my OPPO 103 up converting it! All I know is I have NO issues with the DVD’s. Beave
Wow, my taped off TV VHS EP mode video tapes looked better than the DVDs to me. The restored blu-rays are amazing.
Perhaps it's partly that the blu-rays looked that GOOD. The DVDs did disappoint me very much though, a lot of dirt on the frames, colours often dull...
The OPPO'S are Overkill decks. There are Threads galore here about the legacy of the machines. Their last one they made, the 205 originally sold for $1300, if you can find one now, their $5000 give or take a bit. Watched a couple more episodes from disc one, Looks Great. Even my younger wife started watching it with me! BeaVe
Be glad then you got the BluRay set!! But for the majority of us, the DVD sets are the only realistic option now. And who knows what the future holds with this debacle. But with the main Monkees Guy on the outs with Rhino's new management, it sure don't look good. Plus, if they DID dump the discs and un assembled pieces, they get to write that off as a lose on their business taxes. Cutting their loss. So, enjoy what you can. I am! Bea e
Thank you to @tdcrjeff marathon re-airing of The Monkees tv series. Where to watch Check your state for availability!
I'm working my way through season 2 and have a question about the standout scene of Mickey doing "Goin' Down". Is he singing/scatting "Hep hep..." or "Help help..."? Hep hep... seems more "cool" in the context of the James Brown-inspired performance, but Help help... is more in line with the perilous situation the singer finds himself in.
I sure hope not... I wish someone would light a fire under their a** and get them scouring their warehouse(s) for the remaining stock...
it's been years... I doubt we'll hear anything more from Rhino about the box...It's over...BUT I hope I am wrong.
Maybe with Nesmith's passing they are looking more closely at releasing Monkee products. ... one can hope
They can use some malarkey marketing strategy and say they're selling it in celebration of the 55th anniversary of the TV series' second season debuting in 1967. They can use my idea, no charge
One of the rhino guys— John Harris?— commented on a zilch FB post with a hint that something is coming
I'll take any idea if it offers us a chance to buy what we missed the first time...Indeed...come on Rhino!
