I thought it was a scene from the early eighties: "The Brady Bunch-the Dark Years" when Alice pimped out 19 year old Cindy.

My friend and bandmate caught The Sweetheart of the Rodeo tour and mentioned that Roger said that when forming The Byrds "he was approached by a fat kid who could sing harmony".

I guess Roger gets along with Chris because both are now religious and conservative.

Sorry the last sentence ...which bit are you referring to ? I've only written down what I read from different sources as the story unfolded.

I meant the assertion that "Nash tried to get Mr C to read a draft three times I believe and then having lost patience released the unchanged book on the public."

I was just saying this was something I hadn't heard before, and wondering if you could point me to a cite along those lines.

I do think Neil and Nash are pathetic old douches, and Croz was right in calling their bs. He's been with the same woman since the late 70s after he had threesomes with half of LA.'s female population.

They're probably pissed off that Crosby ended up the rights to the name. At least Roger might be. He held the band together for so long, he might think that he's entitled. For whatever reason though, he didn't step up and buy the rights.
But as with everything else, we don't know all the facts.

Yes, but isn't that the point. Though I personally agree with you that Nash & Young didn't do right by their women--as far as we know--who the Hell is Crosby to be calling out anyone for anything? As I recall, Nash really went the extra mile for Crosby back when the latter was still in a haze of drugs.

Neil called Croz "a real friend" in Shakey. If you can't take criticism from a real friend, it's usually because you know they are right.

Unfunny and beside the point. I'm, happily, actually not an aged rock star who thrives on public attention.

I don't care what they do in their personal lives(and I don't have a problem with anything they did do) but I wish making music with Croz was important enough to both of them to accept his sincere apologies, realize they don't have much more time, and have one more go at it. I'm starting to think that it's not so much that NY has a problem with Croz, but rather prefers to just continue doing his own thing. Which doesn't include any of his old mates. And without him, a reunion doesn't have any financial impact.

Well I definitely read it online along the way. I will have a look around, but it might take a little searching.

I had no idea these guys continued recording after the 80's.

BTW, speaking of Nash, I just saw a pretty good documentary on the Hollies.

Devil's advocate time ... why should they have one more go at it? Are we somehow owed it? It's not like they haven't given us an awful lot over the last 50 years.

It's like the people in the Stones/Jagger thread twisting themselves into knots looking at recovery times from heart valve procedures and trying to predict when Mick will be back on stage giving us that one more go that everyone is salivating about.

Who gives 6.5 cacas when or if he ever gets back on stage? I'm not a massive Stones fan but I'm more interested in the guy getting healthy and living out a happy, healthy lifespan than when he's going to be shaking his ass for paying customers again. Neither the Stones nor Jagger nor CSN or CSNY or CN owe us jack caca. It's not like they haven't already given us a crapload.

Nash will reunite with Crosby when his girlfriend eventually dumps him, to paraphrase Steve Earl, "for a younger less talented musician" ...unless, of course, he dumps her for an even younger less talented artist.

McGuinn and Crosby seem to get along well with one another. But getting along well with one another certainly doesn't mean you have to start working together again. In fact it might really be good reason not to work together again. Why screw it up with business entanglements?

Nash and Crosby don't seem to be getting along too well from a distance, so working together again would seem to be a recipe for trouble. Maybe if that was taken off the table the two could reconcile.

Crosby's quote here doesn't support the "Nash tried to get Mr C to read a draft three times I believe and then having lost patience released the unchanged book on the public" narrative.

According to Crosby: "When [Nash] handed an advance copy to me, he said, ‘It’s too late to change anything, but here it is.’"

As you say, we need to find Nash's narrative for balance.

If Nash has sex with his new paramour as often as he has bragged about in recent interviews, then he must be on a Viagra i.v. drip in his "down" hours.
