Hype building 101 - stretch out the length of time your (band/movie/product) is in the news media before release date. Proven very effective historically. Of course this can backfire if your taster/teaser tracks suck.
I wasn't a big fan of Somewhere In Time but was still upbeat for the next IM album. Then I heard Can I Play With Madness.
Apologize if this has already been covered in this thread or a specific Megadeth thread, but I'm looking for recommended "best pressings" (vinyl) of Megadeth - Peace Sells ... and So Far, So Good ... Appreciate any guidance.
IMO and I think others will agree with me, the original first press US Capitol vinyl releases have not been bettered. They were the best sounding versions when I had them. I decided to sell all of my vinyl years ago for various reasons. They are pretty expensive at this point. A decent copy will go for $100-$200. The Megadeth Album By Album Thread
You should look over the reviews on the dedicated thread…but will it replace the original Holy Diver? No…and nor do I think that was their intention. It’s more…what could have been. Every song has an ending. Guitar’s are boosted, lost licks found. It’s just…fun! Plus a nifty live show, and studio outtakes where it’s like being in the room while they were working out the material.
Just awesome riff after awesome riff on this one. Even the lesser songs are packed full of great riffs.
Can't say much on SFSGSW, but for Peace Sells I found UK 1986 and US 2011 (from the boxset) to be the best sounding. You could check this thread if you have some time as well Megadeth on vinyl
I've never been a huge fan, although the debut and '75's Toys In The Attic have been staples regularly exercised for decades but Aerosmith's Rocks is such a fabulous Hard Rock record. The production so typical of this era - is lush - and the result is a sonic honey pot, generously disgorging its contents. I've nothing against their late 80s comeback material but this early stuff (besides the dreaded 'Walk This Way') deserves vastly more recognition. I try and avoid using this hackneyed term but its firmly warrantied, here: it has soul. Marvellous.
If you haven’t already checked it out I can highly recommend ‘Rock In A Hard Place’ @Trillmeister. Alas no Perry/Whitford/but no late 80’s song doctors.
Definitely, and the back cover is different too. This UK press has the full band pose shot and in North America it’s a live shot of the band on stage.
They just release a collection of the singles they put out over the pandemic...I bought the CD, haven't listened to it yet.
Funny...listened to the new album, Animalistic, today...and this is one of the weaker tunes IMO. I guess that just goes to show how strong an album it is.
So Herman Frank (ex-Accept) must be one of the best riff masters out there…last year under his name he put out the excellent disc, Two For A Lie. But he is also the driving force behind the band Victory, who also released a wonderful slice of melodic metal, Gods of Tomorrow. The riff on this is infectious…! Love & Hate
