Nice! I think that the Audiomods 6 would look right at home on that table. I believe that some of the Acoustic Signature tonearms use Rega mounting too.
Now, you may believe this or you may not but I managed to pick up a reasonable Audiomods Series 6 just an hour ago! Coincidence eh? It arrives on Tuesday and I couldn't be more excited - from a hifi perspective of course!
I bought that new in 1996. Its a top of the line Mk4. TNT platter/bearing. Super Arm board, Sama (the original large model) , SDS speed controller. The suspension has been modified ( springless)
25 years with the same table! That was a very good investment! I'm guessing there's been more than one tonearm though?
I started with a Rega RB300 then went to an RB900. The RB1000 ( w/ upgraded internal wire) has been mounted for about 20 yrs. It was a different jouney with the cartridges, many came and went over the yrs. Thanks for the interest !
My table has seen a lot of changes since the last time I posted a pic of it 7 years ago. 1) Installed the new Sota 3 phase motor. 2) New Stillpoints LPI version 2 on top of the record. 3) Using 4 original Stillpoint Ultra5's with bases and 4 inverted LPI v2's for the footers. 4) I removed the bearing nut and had a Stillpoint Ultra 5 drilled and taped to 1-14 so it can be used as the bearing nut. 5) Currently using the ZXY Omega Ultimate.
Had a TD-121 (33.3 only) in this plinth before, but I found a TD-124 to slide in there instead. I don't see me playing many 78s, but it sure is nice having the extra speed for my Blue Note 45's.
That's one wild turntable. The ET-2 arm was a standard option on the HW-19 and TNT, but I've never seen one on a Classic. I don't know at what level the arm is, but if you haven't added the current ET mods--the aluminum mount base, and the metal joint that holds the arm wand--they are worth looking into. Bruce also now sells an extremely long counterweight arm that allows you to better dial in resonance. JohnK
I have the new base and arm joint. Bruce and I recently went over arm resonance, which left me feeling rather ignorant. Never ask a physics professor about resonant frequencies. I used the Dr Feikert software and got 16hz. I added a 3 gram headshell weight and it dropped to 12hz. In talking with Bruce, he said the the 16 isn't really 16 because of the air bearing and that the only thing that matters is if it sounds better. That was after 10 minutes of calculus equations he was doing off the top of his head. He is truly a great guy.
My Thorens TD 146 with TP 16 tonearm in a custom gloss finish zebra wood plinth. Springs were replaced with those from Vinyl Nirvana and the platter was painted matte black. Cart is a Denon DL110.
Very nice plinth! I also have a Tp16 with Dl110 and it's a superb combo ! First time though I see a black Tp16, custom painted as well ?
Aah correct, mine is an MK1. I knew there was a lighter mass version which had a black armtube (MK2) but didn't know they had other versions after that.
I was actually planning to replace the arm with a linn basik lvx. However after mounting the Denon, I just felt that this tonearm/cart combo was a keeper.
Exactly my experience . Have tried a few carts on it in the past and the Denon is definitely staying where it is !
