Ooo I'm stressed for you. Maybe you can put something right under it that'll catch it in case of disaster.
Took delivery last night on a Thorens TD 126 Mkii I picked up for a great price (I think) on ebay. Seller said everything was working well, but I was a little nervous with all the electronics on this table - and its ebay. Spent a couple of hours this morning switching out my Dual 1219 for the Thorens as my 2nd table. Wow! My first Thorens. Wonderfully clean table, everything functioning perfectly. Minor crack at the back of the dust cover - will be looking for a replacement. Came with a really cheap AT 3600L which will be gone as soon as I take delivery of the Ortofon 2M Bronze I'm ordering, but even with this budget cartridge the Lyle Lovett LP I'm playing right now sounds great! Came with a second arm wand so will be also getting an Ortofon mono/78 option. I'm going to have a lot of fun with this. Now what to do with the 1219 I just had rebuilt.......
Found this at a thrift shop today for $15. Audio-technica 1001 cartridge included. Anyone know a good tracking weight for the cartridge? I found very little info other than it’s a P mount with the adapter.
Thanks. It was set at around 2g with 3g of anti-skating. That was obviously wrong. Thanks. These old Technics are becoming worth their weight in gold lately. Back in the ‘80’s I sold a SL-1401 with a Shure V-15III for $100. I’m still kicking myself.
My new (old) turntable is in the air flying from Germany as I type. Any chance I’ll sneak this past my wife?
Send her out for a spa day then tell her you stopped by the thrift store while she was out. Personally I can't wait to see what's in the box!
