I got the original Japanese LP with Obi and inserts from a local import specialist in 88'. The Bo Diddley side is by far the stronger of the two!
Correct. If I recall, I picked it up at Last Record Store in Santa Rosa, CA -- a shop I didn't get to very often.
Once again I am cursing the powers that be at work for banning You Tube from our work computers again, since it occurred to me that I never linked the Slide On This album for those who've never heard it...I'll do it when I get home.
I enjoyed Slide on the This when it was released. I thought the production of the cd was pretty good. My buddies always made fun of Knock Yer Teeth Out --- we were in college at the time and when walking home from the bars one of them would inevitably start to sing the refrain "I'm going to knock your teeth out, one by one, by one" on the way home. I always enjoyed the tune....
Today Ronnie Wood posted a video of himself watching a Top Of The Pops re-run from 1971 of Rod Stewart and the rest of his Faces band mates performing (well pretending to play) Maggie May. The BBC Radio One DJ, John Peel is on piano. I defy anyone not to smile when they see how happy Ronnie is watching this! Here's a link to the video: Ronnie Wood on Twitter .
When I get home from work in the morning I will post a You Tube link to the Slide On This album, as well as Plugged In And Standing Up. Gonna be taking my first holiday (such as it is) in four years this weekend so continue to talk amongst yerselves...
Yeah, this will just be a weekend trip, away till Sunday night- the wife and I are taking the kids to Calgary to go to the zoo, see the Calgary Tower etc- all the touristy stuff I never did when my folks and I actually lived in Calgary thirty five years ago Best part will be meeting up with my best friend and his family for dinner on Saturday night, haven't actually seen the guy since my wedding six years ago...
Lately getting smoked out from all the forest fires in the next province over (British Columbia). When I walked out of work on Tuesday morning, the sky was orange from the all the smoke in the air. One of the damnedest things I've ever seen...
Campfire. And Calgary and Banff were even worse- what should have been a spectacular view up Sulphur Mountain was mostly obscured by smoke. No, let's not:
Any one interested, Real Gone music reissued the Mahoney's album on green vinyl. I picked up a copy. My first one suffered from some no-fill but the replacement is fine. It's comparable in sound to my original US Atco. Mastered by John Golden and pressed at Rainbo.
From his first album, I just can't get Far East Man out of my head. Much prefer it to the version on George Harrison's Dark Horse album.
I agree with you. George wasn't the most focused of people as he was making music at this time; I also prefer Ronnie's take.
Wow Slide On Live: Plugged In and Standing is terrific!! The reissue with studio bonus tracks is a must-have
I think I read it here, but searches didn't bring me the info. Where were the first two Woody vinyl solo albums originally mastered? Something tells me I read that "Own Album To Do" was mastered in the USA and that "Now Look" was done in the UK. Does anybody know? Thanks!
Listen to the version of Ooh La La" at 27:00 and tell me if it is not the finest recording of this song that you've heard. The guitars and those drums, mix quality is just great too.
