No you are not. If you were there would be pictures. Otherwise unsubstantiated hearsay. Meaningless and must be discounted.
There haven't been any in stock in the US since at least April 2021, I set up a backorder at two major US online retailers in March 2021 and neither have had stock, or gotten any word from Panasonic/Technics about US availability, since then.
"general tosser/mischief maker"? Really, I'm calling out someone who is, without evidence, making statements about the QC of an entire run of turntables.. the fact that you show no proof of this makes you, IMO, the mischief maker. It's just my opinion. I don't own one.. still waiting.. if I get one and it has the issue, I will gladly say so and get my money back. But I will also show proof of the issue because I know I want to see it. Otherwise, I'm just as likely a Rega/insert your belt drive here fanboy crapping on a Technics.
Perhaps it might be worth looking to import from Europe? I bought mine here: Technics SL-1200G Grand Class Direct Drive draaitafel Looks like it's still in stock. I believe Albepro also has an international Ebay handle.
The supply chain is messed up badly. A mining company ordered 2,000 large batteries (initially) 6 months ago. When they found out delivery was at best Dec 2022 they upped it to 5,000. (12 V, 100 Ahr) A mfg. called me today, he can't get approved cable, only a few hundred feet, at the earliest, May 2022. He wanted to know if I had any ideas, I sent him 2 contacts. He needs it to build underground vehicles. This is a lag from the first year of Covid.
I'm shattered, torn and battered, hurt even I've been ignoring you WHILE responding. Relax Show proof Help others suppose I said my MIJ had runout of 0.1 and my MiM 0.001, on 10 different samples, would you believe me?
That has nothing to do with why Technics hasn’t supplied the US in a year (perhaps longer) whereas other countries are supplied.
Oil and dust, rubbed off with my finger. Lighting too, that is a machined ridge. Hard to see. 5-6 mm inside the silver edge.
I was one of the first people to get a MiM 1200g. I did feel duped because I hadn't been previously informed about the switch to Malaysia. For the amount involved, I expected transparency. Also, being a Technics enthusiast, I wanted to know more about the manufacturing process, the reasons for a switch, and what the company was doing to ensure that product would live up to their own lofty standards. Months later, I can say that the table is as good as my MiJ 1200gr in terms of build quality. I got a poorly cut mat on both my 12's. That's my main disappointment, which I guess is pretty good. The Oyiade mat is much better than the one that comes with the g. I would like to get an original 6mm mat to see what that would be like. I do think Technics could've made a better mat for the money. This gummy, oval-shaped thing is ridiculous. Also, the headshell of the g could be fancier. Some distinguishing quality would have been nice.
Looks nice and clean again! But I never get used to those hideous stickers... I always get the urge to peel those off immediately when I see them. Especially when they’re that big; the later legacy 1200s had way smaller stickers, earlier ones didn’t have them at all.
Agree, at least it stays underneath a mat and most of the time under a record too, so I don't get to see it very often.
By removing that sticker, the mat will make better contact with the platter, improving grip and your soundstage will open up a 5th dimension full of previously lost musicians! So just do it, you know you want it! Lol
Yeah, true - it’s the other way around for the nicely shiny brass platter on mine, unfortunately... But a nice surprise when taking off the mat. A reminder that you’ve got something special.
Decent Do you guys have Harbor Freight? Any will work if set up and used correctly, Clamping Dial Indicator
Hah! Yeah during the winter, the dust sticks on the inside of the cover too (I play records with dustcover up, so dust can get there). Eventually, some of those dust particles release when the cover loses its static charge. That’s how most of the dus gets on my table. Took some time for me to find that out (used a bright light for several days to check the dustcover).
Sounds like you need to add humidity to your environment. You get less static if humidity is close to 60%.
Yes the low humidity of the winter weather is the issue. I don't like the idea of a humidifier, since most of them have a fan that makes noise. Keeping the ambient noisefloor down is important to me when critically listening to music. The Milty Zerostat 3 antistatic gun helps a lot though!
