Similar price point to the TD-309. Same TP92 uni pivot tonearm. The 148 is full automatic obviously.

TP92 isn't a uni-pivot. The current TD 148A uses a later tonearm, the TP95. Other than that, I agree, it may be the only (relatively) high end automatic deck sold now :)

    Thorens says it's a TP92?

They say it is derived from the TP92, the whole bearing structure and base is different. Not a big deal, just pointing out that it is a new design.

I wonder how 78 works with automatic function, as it only supports 12 and 7 inch records, with no option for 10 (which is pretty much all 78s)

You have to use manual cueing for 10" records, kind of a missed opportunity. Talks about that in the Hi-Fi News review too.

Yea, they were a pretty nice table, innovative in many ways, never really caught on though. Even new, they were often seen pretty heavily discounted.

YEAH seems an awesome table, but not a fan of the retro look.
The glass platter is a nice touch, I think the resin platter designs
    should be glass too.

The auto functions are nice but not a deal sealer, really.

I LOVE the look of this much more, similar specs:
