It was a very good year, probably the best for albums. Talking of Marvin, Welch & Farrar, I can still remember hearing their single, 'Marmaduke', on the radio before school one morning; I'm not sure I've heard it since, but I can still remember it. Same with Al Stewart's 'You Don't Even Know Me' from around the same time. I started school in 1971, but I can still remember all that stuff ('Horse With No Name', etc.) on the radio before setting off to school on bleak, rainy mornings, looking around in vain for that Ready-Brek glow... Damn those advertising creeps! I'm off to get my 1972 albums up here now... See you later!

I love both the Marvin, Welch & Farrar records. The Shadows did what they did but, for me, at least, those two albums are real classics. Don't know Marmaduke, though. Was that a stand-alone single? I'm enjoying the trawl through your Seventies collection. You have eclectic tastes!

Yes, it must have been a stand-alone single, about Jan-Feb 1972. I know the Al Stewart track was on the Orange album, which I used to have on vinyl for a while. I didn't know who the artists were on either of these tracks at the time. I'm glad you're enjoying the trawl through my 70s collection. I thought it might kick things around here into action a little, but only you have really taken the bait so far. We can only try, can't we? I'll put 1973 this evening.
You have a mighty collection, carlwm! Actually, I have the two Cass Elliot albums from 1972 as well, but they're not on the list I did on Excel for some reason. Thank goodness for copy and paste, but I still have to re-arrange them after pasting them here. A tedious task.

I had a listen to Marmaduke on-line. Good track. Big fan of Al Stewart and I regard Orange as a tad under-appreciated. It was, essentially, the album where he started to transition away from the persona; & kitchen sink observations and started taking on broader themes.
Cheers! The only solo Cass Elliot I've ever heard is Dream A Little Dream For Me. Are the albums any good?
They're okay. A bit M.O.R., but in the best possible way. She did a version of Hurricane Smith's 'Oh Babe What Would You Say', which is what encouraged me to get it. It's three albums on two CDs. She also had a top 10 hit in 1969 with 'It's Getting Better', which I can just about remember, though again, at the time, I didn't know who it was.
Not sure if they'll be for me but if I ever found that double CD at a reasonable price, I'd be tempted to take the risk.
Ike & Tina just behind Eye Level, Daydreamer and My Friend Stan in the charts. Strange, but happy days.
Haven’t you heard It’s Getting Better? That always seems to be on oldies radio. Make Your Own Kind Of Music is another Cass classic.
