Big fan of Lake Street Dive, and this video always moves me. Great song, but the animation adds a lot.
Can't believe I forgot about a-ha's "Lifelines". It's possibly my favorite video of all time. The only true competition is Chris Isaak's "Can't Do A Thing (To Stop Me)", Duran Duran's "Ordinary World", Tears For Fears "Sowing The Seeds Of Love", and Don Henley's "Boys Of Summer" (imho). Love the song just as much as the video!
One of my favorite albums from this year is Moti Ka Sheher by Sham-e-Ali Nayeem. It's built around trip-hop soundscapes populated with lyrics from her book of poetry City of Pearls. Really enchanting work. Below is the opener "Place of Birth" by award winning filmmaker Suneil Sanzgiri ...
Perhaps the only video with a comprehensive hardcover making-of book devoted to it. Truly that great Pearl Jam-“Do the Evolution”
Sorry, the video I posted for David Byrne and Brian Eno's "America Is Waiting" was NOT made by Bruce Conner. This one for "Mea Culpa" from the same album is by Conner.
This one is very well put together, although certain moments of it are a trifle silly: Jon & Vangelis - I Hear You Now
You can't have too much Robert Palmer, and this video basically represents "ultimate 80s" (in a good way).
The flex of matching the arty softcore glory of the original Bruce Weber video blow by blow here is impressive. I volunteer to be this person's spliff!
Toss up between Black's Wonderful Life and Tanita Tikaram's Cathedral Song, both by the same director Gerard de Thame and very similar in style. Went for the latter.
Peter Gabriel - Don't Give Up Very simple but the imaging of the pure togetherness and support as expressed in the lyrics is beautiful.
