Well the Master Of Spark has been cut off.

DQ: When was the last time you played this album?

La Grange. It doesn't have the melodic or lyrical elements of the others. I do like it. It suffers from being way over played, too.

  3. Beer Drinkers.... although I love the ‘can of dinner line. These last few are all good tunes.

DQ: This is a good car album for me, so intend to jam it on long drives. Been a while though!

Precious and Grace. The other four are classics for a reason.

    Voted Beer Drinkers

DQ: Probably a few weeks ago. Wife is digging Rio Grande Mud so I've been spinning that more lately.

    Precious And Grace.
It's a great rocker, but the others are bona fide classics, of course overplayed.
Queens of The Stone Age did a cover of Precious and Grace with Mark Lanegan on vocals. It's way too metal, but the influence of early ZZ Top on early QOTSA is rather transparent.

Since P&G looks like it may be on the way out, I think the reason I hold that song in higher regard is one of my favorite current bands QOTSA covered it with Billy Gibbons playing on the track. Such a great song (as are all remaining).

    Precious and Grace.

I compiled a 2 cdr set of my favorite ZZ Top tracks and I usually play that instead of the individual albums.

"Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers" has to go.

Played the record on Tuesday when I became aware of this poll.

  14. The Rockpalast 1980 show from the band is a straight up rocker. The arrangements are beefy and ballsy- that show is my ‘go to’ for ZZ Top, especially for songs from this era.

    Precious And Grace again.

Last time, I don't know, weeks ? months ? Don't keep a log book for such things, I just live.

Going back to voting for "Jesus Just Left Chicago", in vain because we all know which one is going this time.

"Precious And Grace" is my favourite track on the album, and I was very pleased when one of my favourite contemporary bands covered it (they had actually done in concert for years before the recording), Mark Lanagan is perfect for the song and him and Billy complement each other nicely trading off vocal lines. On the QOTSA DVD Over the Years and Through the Woods there is a bonus clip of them in the studio, while I think laying down drums for Songs for the Deaf, and in the front of a pile of LPs leaning against the wall in the background is a copy of Fandango! :)

I don't remember when I last played the whole album, must be a long time ago, I am very burnt out on it, but I have played choice cuts while this game has been going, since there's been some dicussion about what is going on musically in them.

Went with “Jesus” this time. I’ve never liked it.

DQ: It’s been a LONG time since I heard this one. Several years at least.

sadly precious and grace, all those other songs are signature tunes ... and it's going to be hard to play from here

La Grange for me. Kinda like RNR All Night by Kiss.....Great tune, but so burnt out on it. I am fine with not listening to it ever again in the context of actively picking a ZZ song to listen to.
Listened to whole album (because it was the 2018 green vinyl and I listen to albums as a whole experience) last Wednesday. Eliminator was my gateway...and then I went backwards and got to the truly amazing stuff. Thanks dad!
