Gotta agree with those digging this band. Certainly the best band i have heard in the last 5 years or so in the garage/psyche/punkish world. I have most of their records and every one is a keeper. Really amazing how good and consistent they are over so many records.
Awesome, thanks for this. Dwyer rarely interviews, so I read this with a lot of interest. The man's a genius and I have even more respect for him now seeing how he treats other bands on his label and deals. He's got so much integrity and honesty. I wonder how much Oh Sees stuff will be released this year. I think we were spoilt in 2016 with two LPs, a live LP and a 7". That was insane.
The man certainly has an admirable work ethic, and I think his take on Kickstarter is spot on. I wish more of today's artists had his perspective.
No, the flexi song is called Classic Bananas. Don't think it's available digitally anywhere yet. I guess it might be released on a future singles collection.
Just getting into this band. Enjoyed the Tape Op interview. Only full cd I have heard is Help. Really a great modern psyche sound. Here's the Classic Bananas flexi...
Dwyer's solo effort Damaged Bug has a new album out called Bunker Funk. For the most part weird bleeps and bloops.
Lots of songs, though! I would in fact disagree with that characterization, it's not really that experimental or out there, a lot of it is very pop, although of course it has the bloops:
AW YEAH, new album, their 19th, is coming out in Aug! Awesome artwork, awesome album name: Orc. New song is also great. The Quietus | News | LISTEN: New Thee Oh Sees / Oh Sees
I've heard songs here and there from them on WXPN, and there is a track by them on the Children of Pepper CD with the Sgt. Pepper issue of MOJO. Looks like I have to check them out some more! I love their sound!
I'll bump this thread by thanking everybody on it. In part due to this thread, I checked out Thee Oh Sees a while ago, and they're now one of my favourite current bands. Going to see them again in September, great live act.
Holy hell, these two new songs sound IMMENSE. Why do I always feel reduced to a frothing fangirl when it comes to this band? Man...
New song here, which is one of the new ones in the set above. This may well turn out to be their heaviest album yet. Oh Sees Auction Hand-Painted Test Pressings for Women’s Center, Share New Song: Listen | Pitchfork
A substantial amount of money raised by each of the items auctioned, $400+ each, what a fine young man.
Leaked! It's a very different sounding Oh Sees album. I find it even more experimental than usual. It's not as immediate as the other albums, but I'm sure it's going to be a grower. Doesn't sound like a Woodhouse recording either. Very keen to see the production credits!
