That's my favorite part of the recording too.

 

Well, it was challenging music and they only played this one gig.

 

So, you guys should check out Steve Lacy…one of the great Monk interpreters.

 

Actually listening to Thelonious In Action on vinyl right now. Hope I can get Misterioso one day too, since it's from the same set.

these two records together are my favorite live monk - talk being transported back to the proverbial 'smoky jazz club' for what amounts to a whole evening of great music...

the bonus tracks on the cd releases from an earlier session at (i think) the same club are gret, too, but the sound quality sadly is notably inferior.
