Trying to separate the music from the cover Musically Neil’s Trans is so far away from any other style he has dabbled in Cover art- Blondie’s The Hunter is a head scratcher. For a band that rarely made a wrong move
Yes, though neo prog seems to have a strong cult following these days, maybe it is just not something that can maintain the kind of commercial windfall it enjoyed in the 70s, like a lot of trends that came and went in those few years.
The front cover of Time-Line isn't very inspiring either. From what I've read about Love Beach, it seems the cover was intended as a joke. From that angle, it's pretty funny as compared to all the ones who were serious about that kind of aesthetic.
It's just cheesy looking tanned rockstars yea? I've never heard the album, but round here it sure gets a pasting lol
That seems pretty much on-brand for BOA. But I think that they got the idea from the gatefold to Grand Funk's We're An American Band.
John Cale’s version. The literalist Caribbean Sunset cover. Luckily, Cale keeps his shirt on even on the beach.
Others will disagree but Lou Reed posing in his biker gear rates as‘love beach’ territory in my mind: back cover of Legendary Hearts
This album so doesn't belong here. Classic Sparks, seminal as w/hell. This is a prime example for a collaboration (Moroder/ Sparks) that works supremely well. I've always liked how the manufacturer of the helmet gets a credit. How about "New Sensations"? Lou with an Atari.
Gotta disagree with the inclusion of Going for the One. The cover art is cheesy yeah (and what WAS it about prog rock groups and guys' naked asses on album covers around that time?! Yeesssh..!), but musically it's quite an excellent album and definitely no kind of sell-out.
Nilsson's Duit On Mon Dei. The cover's not that bad, but the album (although it has a couple of shining moments) is mainly a calypso-heavy drunken party in the studio, and his once pristine and angelic voice was shot.
