Not my favorite Yes and never liked the cover art...but again I don't see it as a sellout, just a change of direction.
The "Love Beach" hate has gotten really boring. And as always, most of the LPs complained about here are good albums. How many hundreds of threads have we had about this?
A lot of the Love Beach Bashing operates under the assumption that ELP having an album with a picture of a radioactive hamster/motorcycle hybrid with the album featuring songs about said hamster is not embarrassing, but having an album cover with a photo containing an open shirt and the album daring to feature love songs IS embarrassing.
If you’ve got to tell her you’re in, you’ve got a problem that no amount of satin and lace is going to fix. #sph
I'm sure this Thread will be the basis of a barrage of nightmare-enhanced sleepless nights for many Members.
This is not a 'Love Beach', because unlike Love Beach, the cover's quite nice really, and unlike Love Beach, the music is totally worthless.
Same. It can be meandering for some (I’m not one who sees it this way), but I can understand if someone chose that one for the LB honorific.
I meant to add: Who cares? It was kind of a fluke of circumstances, that prog had any sort of commercial success at all. 20 minute+ long songs, not danceable, often times not easy to sing along with, no memorable 'hooks', complexity, often times atonal, etc, doesn't paint a picture of a popular music form.
WHAAAAAAT??? One of Queen's best records.... Maybe their best one some days?? Brighton Rock?!? Or is it just the cover? Not their best but TBH Queen only did iconic covers when the band was absent.
My third favorite Yes album, easily. Emerson Lake & Palmer would've given all their combined chest hair to write a song half as groundbreaking--or commercially successful--as "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" in the 80s.
