That Norberg bit just made this newbie throw up a little.

Please please let it be the mono "Where Are You?" with the proper "Autumn Leaves", as was heard by the contemporary listener.

Or the original reel tape mix, even (chalk that up in the 'never going to get reissued' territory, sadly). I've long ago realized that there are some things I'm just never gonna hear.

Nice friend you've got there

I'll have to pick up all three of these! On SACD, I think.

You could come across a reel on eBay. But it's not the complete album.

This is amazing! Hope more are on the way too!

This may push me to get an SACD player.

I've looked from time to time but no luck so far.

Of course, if I did stumble upon it, then that would then put me on the "having to get the thing transferred" track.

I'm set up for vinyl in all it's forms (aside from 16/20"). This would probably be the only reel tape mix I'd be interested in that I don't already have as a transfer. It's very tempting if I do happen to see it on ebay though.

I am excited to learn of these upcoming reissues.

Please, may the mastering be executed respectfully.

P.S. Mofi's For Only the Lonely mono LP is killer. If these newest reissues are of that quality, that will be great news!

I hate to rain on anybodys parade, but I wouldn't expect any mono or 3 track layers of these titles. That's not what MFSL does. They also won't go back to the original master tapes. They will try to find an early copy of the album master and go off that. If there is a stereo version, that's what they'll use. The only reason they did mono for Only The Lonely was the problems with the stereo master tape.

MFSL doesn't see SACD as a way to give the buyer more layers with different versions. They just view it as a way to improve sound quality (and charge more.)

Of course, I would be thrilled to be proven wrong!!

Having said that, I'm still in for these and look forward to them. If they do the same quality job they did with Nice N Easy I'll be quite happy.

Don't forget that the early stereo version of WHERE ARE YOU? was missing a track. This might be a reason for MFSL to issue the mono version. After all, they had at least one other "trouble-free" stereo ballad LP to choose from this round (NO ONE CARES).

BTW, I really miss Matt's comparison pages. There's much discussion about the stereo anomalies of WAY? in the [thread=205245]Sinatra/Capitol SQ album thread[/thread], but this is a case where I really wish I could hear the samples and original text upon which that's based.

    Interesting.

For Swingin' Session, although I love the mono mix, it seems that the stereo would be more appropriate for an 'audiophile' treatment. The stereo has an ultra wide soundstage and pretty convincing live tone.

No One Cares has an ok stereo mix...

But, I'd really like to see Where Are You?issued in mono. That's the way it should be IMO. For one thing, the original mono LPs of that album are a real challenge to find in playable condition. Also, the complete track selection of the mono version would be more desirable.

This is very good news. I will be in for the SACD's unless there turns out to be sound quality issues or something else wrong with them. I think MFSL's has been doing very good work lately. so I'm excited:righton:

Fantastic news if these are done in the same manner as Only The Lonely was. And yes, should be mono for "Where Are You?"

IIRC, Didnt mfsl do a good job on "Where Are You?" for the box set? Stereo though, correct?

I am not sure Swingin Session can be bettered as far as the stereo on the later purple label. One of my favorite Sinatra albums though.

Not to sound ungrateful, but sure would like to see the biggies done.

"In The Wee Small Hours" and "Songs For Swingin' Lovers" need a good dry audiophile release. I hope they come out sometime also.

Now I'm torn between the SACD and Vinyl

Also I bet since Capitol did Come Dance, Come Fly and Wee Small Hours MFSL will do A Swingin Affair, Close to You and something odd like Point of No Return. I wish they would just do a Box set again of vinyl or SACD both mono and stereo and a singles collection and be done with it. I'll pay my earned money. :righton:

I think that the MFSL stereo WHERE ARE YOU is excellent overall, but in terms of sheer sonics, the SN-series green label pressings from the 1980s are as good or better, IMO, but they are abridged, so I always give the nod to MFSL. There's definitely some room for improvement on an already excellent (but not "totally excellent") product.

I've yet to hear a vinyl SWINGIN' SESSION that 100% floats my boat, so I'm really eager to hear what happens there. The 1983 MFSL stereo (in the box) was awful (and I like the box overall, so them's some pretty harsh words). I'm curious: Which purple label release are you referring to? Is it abridged?

Thanks Matt, I thought I remembered correctly on the sq of the mfsl "Where Are You?". As far as specifics on the purple label "Sinatra's Swingin' Session!!!" unfortunately I dont have access to the lp at this time. Seems like I read a thread with possibly Martin mentioning the particuliar purple label version. I could be wrong. Maybe he will chime in, if he knows.

At any rate, its a great sounding album. If mfsl can improve or surpass the best sounding stereo versions, I will be thrilled.

I would be excited if MoFi released the original 2-track 7 1/2ips stereo version of "Where Are You?" (along with add the missing tracks), but am I the only one who finds the announcement of these 3 LP’s to be a big yawn? Perhaps if I liked the last set of MoFi Reprise releases better….:sigh:

I'm very happy with my clean "D" originals in both mono and stereo, thank you very much but I will pass.
