Man, I would love to see SACD reissues of "Only The Lonely" and "Nice 'N Easy" to go with these new titles. I really hate inconsistencies like this...

Would it be too much to hope that all the Capitol albums finally get the MFSL treatment after all they do deserve it.

    Here's hoping

She actually gave specific dates of September 28 and October 5 for the vinyl releases. (See [post=8026229]earlier post[/post].) No official word yet from MoFi, though.

I take it that "Swingin' Lovers" would be out of the question for the MoFi treatment?

Why? Assuming this latest announcement is not vaporware, they seem to be releasing these piecemeal. One can only hope MFSL will get around to the entire Sinatra Capitol catalog.

But at the rate they're going, we'll all be dead by the time they finish!

According to a post by Nancy Sinatra today:

No announcements from Capitol and/or MFSL, and no pre-release info in any retail pipelines, as yet.

So I wonder if these will better the earlier MOFI versions?
I will probably be in for the SACDs but I already have the MOFI box.
But wait! These are mono, right? I hope so!

It's one of the few I don't have in mono so I am stoked. I wish they had done the other two in mono too.

This one makes sense in mono as the tapes are so different and it is a perfect companion-piece to "Only the Lonely".The others in stereo will be fine I'm sure.

As my college roommate used to say: "Dag!"

I am pleasantly shocked by this, to say the least.

My guess? To do a full-length stereo version would have involved digital mastering for the LP as in the 1983 MFSL LP, and the current staff didn't choose to go that route. Either way: cool!

Along those lines: Note the wording on the MFSL website regarding their upcoming mono reissue:
The stereo master tape, of course, is missing one song.

Why on earth would doing the stereo involve digital mastering? Makes no sense.

What did I tell you? A remaster of the mono album made the most sense.

That's not exactly what I was saying. To do the typical, released-that-way-since-the-late-'50s 11-song stereo LP would be a straightforward task in the analog domain, but if MFSL wanted to re-do their 1983 12-song LP that matches the 1957 12-song mono running order, they would have to either 1.) repeat the digital mastering that was done in 1983; or 2.) convince Capitol to let them physically cut "I Cover the Waterfront" out of the mono master reel and splice it into the stereo master reel.
