This topic has probably been covered before and that's a real shame since there are a finite number of total possible threads on this site /s but the question is:

What are the artists or bands that you have, in your rough estimation--even if they may not be your very favorite or the "best"--spent the most actual time listening to over the years? Like, My Bloody Valentine is one of my Top 10 all time bands, but they've only got about 25 songs that I listen to, and I'm not always in the mood.

    For me, it might be:
    1. The Wedding Present/Cinerama
    2. Cocteau Twins
    3. The New Pornographers/AC Newman
    4. Destroyer
    5. Led Zeppelin
    6. Morrissey/The Smiths
    7. Steely Dan
    8. The Beatles/solo Beatles
    9. The Cure
    10. The Church

Contenders: Elvis Costello, Siouxsie and The Banshees, Bauhaus/Love + Rockets/solo, Chvrches, REM, Beach Boys, The Chameleons, Rush, Pink Floyd, The Who, The Kinks, Trashcan Sinatras, Liz Phair, Joy Division/New Order, Kate Bush, Van Morrison, The Pogues, Screaming Trees, Magnetic Fields

Considering that I started hearing music in the 1960s and started buying it in the 1970s, that would rule out virtually anyone who began recording after then. My top 6 are probably accurate; the rest are best guesses.

    1. The Beatles
    2. Bee Gees
    3. The Beach Boys
    4. The Rolling Stones
    5. Elvis Presley
    6. Elton John
    7. Simon & Garfunkel

    The Beatles
    The Rolling Stones
    The Who
    Led Zeppelin
    Bob Seger
    Jimi Hendrix
    Paul McCartney/Wings
    Pink Floyd
    The Doors
    Tom Petty

  11. Graham 12" Remix

Graham 12" Remix Graham Sylvian, Graham Gedge or Graham from Felt

    David Bowie

    Ryan Adams
    The Divine Comedy
    The Doors
    Felt
    The Pet Shop Boys
    The Beatles
    Fleetwood Mac
    Thee Oh Sees

Various Artists would come in second, while The Smiths and Morrissey would fit in between Talking Heads and Ryan Adams, which would mean two cancelled people in the top five.

It is kind of cyclical. I go through phases.

At a guess over the course of my listening years

    Dylan
    Elvis
    Pink Floyd
    Beatles
    Led Zeppelin
    The Doors
    Frank Zappa
    Cold Chisel
    U2
    Jerry Lee Lewis

    In the last two years

    Elvis
    Devin Townsend
    Gentle Giant
    Decemberists
    Genesis
Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds
    King Crimson
    Genesis

idk it can be rather random
