    Are You Experienced- Jimi

Santana- Santana * write in vote

    The Doors- The Doors

    Spirit- Spirit

    Fresh Cream- Cream

Lots of other great albums I could have chosen from, and a few great ones that weren't included in the poll. Boy the 60's had some really great , creative, groundbreaking music.

I think we think of a lot of those 69 debuts as seventies bands, so it doesn't come to mind

1969 could have it's own separate poll, and it would still be as good (maybe even better) than this poll.

For that matter it almost seems like the playing field changed do much by 1966 that pre and post-1966 debut records are hard to compare. No offense to the Who, Kinks, Stones, and Beatles. They all had good debut records that don't even make their own top 5 albums list IMO.

The most mind-blowing debut album (or any album, for that matter) belongs to the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

No shortage of landmark albums on that list...

    Yeah. My Generation's awesome.
Roger Daltrey's vocals will always kick butt, no matter which decade. I can't imagine that style dating.

I chose The Doors, Are You Experienced, and LZ I without much hesitation. They are all classics/landmarks and significantly effected the playing field.

In my second round I chose Piper but more so because of its place in musical history rather than because I think every song is great/amazing.

For my last choice I labored a bit, but went with the one I'd most like to listen to at this moment, Yes!

It's rather new to me (in the last year) so it hasn't worn out on me yet. Unlike Fresh Cream and Blind Faith. I've heard those "hits" for decades now.

Going off this list, I think Truth and ItCotCK would replace Yes and Floyd for me as personal faves FWIW.

It's such a massively influential album. Almost like a ground zero from when rock 'n' roll became rock.

    It has aged remarkably well.

Good pick with Yes. I think it deserves much more praise than it gets.

    Yes

    Close to those are

    Blind Faith
    Cream
    Creedence
    Small Faces
    VU
    The Who

There aren't any I like more than those, but some I like as much or close to it that weren't listed are:

    Alice Cooper
    Amboy Dukes
    The Band
Big Brother & the Holding Company
    Blood, Sweat and Tears
    Buffalo Springfield
    Chicago
    Crosby, Stills & Nash
    Elton John
    Grateful Dead
    Iron Butterfly
    Jeff Beck
    Jefferson Airplane
    Jethro Tull
    The Nice
    Rod Stewart
    Traffic

. . . I'm probably forgetting some, but those are a lot of my favorite debut albums of the decade.
