I got inspired to makes this thread after posting on another thread about a band I know is important to music history/rock n' roll/ pop, but I just am not into. I was also inspired by watching a video from the Cinemassacre channel on YouTube about the top ten films James Rolfe doesn't love that are considered classics or best films of all time.

These bands can be established classics, recent or new and hitting the charts right now. Bands that you acknowledge are important to music history or understand their popularity. I just want to hear everybody's opinions on groups/artists/bands that people love, but you just don't like or love just as much. I'll start with mine below

    - Cher
    - the Grateful Dead
    - Imagine Dragons
    - Kanye West
    - Twenty One Pilots

No trolling or looking to make people mad, just honesty. I look forward to everyone's replies.

  5. I could easily list 30 artists/bands that take up half the bandwidth around here, that I have almost zero interest in.

That ISN'T to say that I don't have any respect for all those same artists/bands -- just that their music hasn't ever caught hold with me, or at least it hasn't yet. Or, in some cases, I rather like them as far as it goes, but I'm nowhere near as much of a fan as many around here.

We all have our own personal preferences, and those will vary wildly from person to person.

I know these are all highly acclaimed artists, and I've tried delving into their respective oeuvres but without much luck I am afraid. Someone please explain to me the rich wonders of audio bliss I am missing out on here.

Some of these seemed to be formerly critics’ darlings only, but are now popular, yes? Either way, I don’t understand why. Hope I haven’t missed the OP’s point.

There are people that go crazy for these groups/bands based on my own observations. Based on YouTube and social media some of these groups are on fire right now as far as popularity goes. Of course like/dislike ratio is to be accounted for, but either way it builds hype.

Like I said, I'm just being honest in what I've seen and what I'm listening to puts me at odds with some of them.

I love Nick Drake, but I can definitely why someone wouldn't be into him.

Can I just use this opportunity to say that I don't get why LCD Soundsystem are so highly rated? I don't think they are terrible as such, but I just never got what all the fuss was about. Ahhhh that felt good. Thanks!
