Total Guitar magazine's readers voted on the 50 greatest guitar solos of the 21st century. Greta Van Fleet's "The Weight of Dreams" has the #1 spot. Alter Bridge's "Blackbird" has #2. Here's what you voted the best guitar solo of the 21st century
Wow - I thought I was a ‘guitar guy’ when it came to music, and I listen to tons of new stuff, but I’ve heard 6 of those songs. Is the Greta Van Fleet solo really that amazing? I do love The Bobby Lee’s “Greta Van Fake” - wonder if Total Guitar has checked that out. I don’t mean to mock the list - let me know if some of these are truly awesome work.
Needs videos, music There is a nice mix of rootsy, commercial, slick, raw, metal, blues, country, etc Let’s begin Buddy Guy - I Let My Guitar Do The Talking
#1 is not a good choice, but the list as a whole is pretty good. Very much in agreement with "Rise" and "Drive Home" making the cut.
That one that Elvis Costello does on that Lucinda Williams record. I know...that was pathetic of me. But it’s really good, as I remember.
I'm a GVF fan, and I think The Weight Of Dreams is a great song with solid guitar work. With that said, it is in no way the greatest solo in the 21st century IMO.
Nice to see Eric Gales on the list, but he's probably had a dozen or more better than the duel with Bonamassa on Crown.
Rise is probably the only thing there where a lot of video tutorials were posted on YouTube covering it and had many people talking. The list also appears to have never heard of indie-rock.
I can't believe I will be the guy pounding the classic rock drum but Tom Morello's solo on Springsteen's live version of Ghost of Tom Joad is astounding. It is not only flashy but adds emotional heft to the song.
Sorry but the solo voted #1 absolutely undeniably slaps. Starts at 4:47 and is still sizzling at 6:40 and beyond
