I find it easier to hide regular vinyl purchases from my wife, but this is the biggest thing I've ever purchased in this hobby. I have to find a way to get this in the house without her seeing it. The first thing she'll do it look it up and see a $1,000 MSRP and then beat me with my own belt.
Yeah, you won't be able to hide this one. Its outer shipping box is 20 x 18 x 18 inches and the whole thing weighs about 41 pounds. As Oatsdad said, lift carefully -- and with your legs as much as possible! I see that the Locked N' Loaded set is now sold out on uDiscover, but it is still available on Sound of Vinyl U.S. -- but at a whopping $999.98!! And it looks like it isn't a part of their current 30% off sale. No wonder it hasn't sold out on that site. (GnR's web store has it for $399, with a current 15% off sale, so about $339 plus a nominal shipping amount.)
uDiscover is having a 30% off with free expedited shipping deal that ends on 1/2/22 at 11:59 PM ET. "Some exclusions apply", though. (For example, the Kiss Destroyer 45th anniversary stuff.) And the free expedited shipping is for U.S. orders only and excludes pre-orders. (But I'm not sure if pre-orders are excluded from both the free shipping AND the 30% off deals.)
I'm really hoping, since this deal lasts a whole month, that they'll get some stuff back in stock that was quickly sold out during the 40% deal. No such luck so far, but I'm going to keep checking the site throughout December.
Just things like the hand-painted GnR cross logo that invites you to open the door to the set...really nice.
I left it up at the office where I had it delivered. Will have to figure out how to sneak it home this weekend. Maybe when she’s doing some work in the yard or I’ll send her to Bed Bath and Beyond. Bring it in then and throw a blanket over it.
That’s what I did when I bought the Miles Davis trumpet case thing a few years back. It wound up staying in my office until after I was divorced, so I hope it goes better for you! Lol
Reminds me of sneaking Cuervo Gold in a guitar case for mixing up Tequila Sunrise pitchers in my parent's basement.
I've gotten really good at bringing items into the house over the years, sometimes I'm quite amazed at what I've pulled off. WAF would not extend to the multitudes of purchases made, even though I can afford what's been bought.
