It looks like that MBL set-up is built into a football stadium. That is insane! Wonder which one? That pic of the ML's is nice!

I have to say that some of you guys need interior designers.

Forget the ugly speakers; some of these rooms are hideously decorated.
    They're like frat rooms. :hurl::hurlleft:

Don't be so hard on the guys.
I was doing great until my divorce.
Then found myself living in an abandoned building with swarms of termites so thick I had to put a sock over my mouth to avoid accidentally inhaling them while sleeping.
My stereo was 6X9 speakers inside old shoebox type cabinets and a car stereo on the floor powered by a battery charger.

I'm saying we all have our lives to live.
I just want everybody to enjoy the forum.
Hurt feelings because of a lack of the Laura Ashley "touch" in decorating is not my intention when I point out who is doing what.
I am trying to suggest ways to get MORE enjoyment, not cut people down, even if bringing up the subject is somewhat a touchy subject.

I am sure you meant the same thing in your comment.
Let's face it, if we all had big bucks like the oligarch elites do we would have surface pools overlooking Central Park and pretty French maids bringing us our scotch on a silver plate.

    I know I would.
At least the pretty maid part, ha ha.

FYI...Laura Ashley needs a course in interior design training, too. :hurl::hurlleft:

    Yeah.
Not my style I must admit.
I much prefer slightly mid century "modern" MadMen touches.

Kabuki speakers of some sort, made in Japan or elsewhere in Asia, I image.

i asume they would look better with the grilles in place.
dimples on the woofer cone are to reduce distortion at higher frequencies

A little hard to select the ugliest of my various loudspeaker creations over the years ... honestly, you could get quite a competition going! But, how ’bout these guys, which my wife and I cohabitated with in our tiny living room for a few years. (Departed but not forgotten...)

Just a reminder, that you don't have to live with "ugly" speakers.

Draw up some plans, keeping the volume the same. Find a small kitchen cabinet builder and tell them that when they have some downtime, you have a project for them.

Life is too short for bad beer or ugly speakers. I've had a few of both. I take no pride in that fact. :sigh: As for some of the speakers posted in this thread, they have a face only a mother could love. Please hide these poor things from public view. Thank you. :)

The Mrs, who happens to be an artist/architect had a couple of drinks one evening and referred to them as the ghastly creatures from Chernobyl...I was happy with it until i heard what the Mrs said...I was unable to unhear what she said thereafter, fk...it was true....So, i let it go. They sounded real good though...

Ok, listening to the JBLs exclusively since Sunday, this afternoon I swapped the Cornwalls back in and immediately noticed that the bass is richer and more abundant and the treble has more sparkle. I really like the 3678s and I'll continue to play with them but I am once again enjoying the Klipsch.

I know these speakers sound amazing and they are light years better looking than the hideous Wilsons that look like they are going to kill you in your sleep, but I still think these are just butt ugly. Just way too swoopy and fake looking - like a badly designed American car. I’m sure the wood veneer is super high quality, but just so much nope. You literally could not pay me to live with these.

I would however, be happy to listen to them and enjoy them at a friend’s house. I know how great they sound, just would never want to look at them long term. I pretty much hate the look of any skinny floor stander I guess.

Different strokes of course! I’m sure many more people hate my tiny little wooden boxes.

I'm not saying you have to like them, but I cannot imagine anyone who has seen these speakers in person comparing them to a "badly designed American car." They're more like an exotic Italian sports car.

Seriously though those horn arrays sound great a friend of mine had them.

Yeah, I know it’s not a popular opinion, but that’s exactly how is see them. Over-designed and tacky. But, yes they do sound great!

Saw the Jadis J1 speaker at an audio show many years ago - perhaps not ugly, but certainly funny looking. Reminded me of the Loony Tunes character Yosemite Sam, so to me they will always be the Yosemite Sam speaker. Interestingly, they're the only thing I can clearly recall from that show .
