Yes, once again because it's great! I mean come on. Jerry hardly looks at his guitar for two minutes. This guy was a true master of his instrument! He has such a nice flow in his playing here. It's so melodic and the tone is great. But he also kicks ass, like on the second solo. That is rippin oh man!
I remember a couple years ago when you questioned the power of Jerry in 1989! It's undeniable though.
That is one of my favorite things...I wish I knew how he gets the sound out of it he does, too. I guess the equipment is part of it.
Tyshawn Sorey - Koan Kind of a low-key, somber mood album from 2009... Really cool and hypnotic. It's beautiful, although now I need some Dead to pick me up.
That record is in my top 5 DRA releases which is saying a lot cause I absolutely love many, if not, most of them.
Jerry Garcia Band 5.20.90 - Hilo Civic Auditorium, Hilo, HI GarciaLive Vol. 10 Man, this one sounds incredible. The second disc is just amazing. The jam in Stop That Train is ridiculous.
A 3 lp prog fest earlier last night posted on another thread, then moved on to this mix up for Fri night into Sat morning's tuneage daydream...
Giant Sand: Long Stem Rant Almost 80 minutes of Howe Gelb genius as told & played through 20 tracks - mostly Howe (on guitar or piano) & John Convertino on Drums Hidden within are at least 5-6 classic amazing little classic songs that so few have ever heard. Surrounding that is improvisation, skronk, country and the open desert. 1989 on Homestead Records
Rory Gallagher - Top Priority Damn, what a smoking album! I know he's technically a blues guitarist, but I mean overall he wrote some of the most BANGING rockers out there. "Follow Me" is like fire on top of fire on top of fire - hotter than 1993 Phish!
Rory Gallagher "Wayward Child", "Philby", "Keychain" HOLY FREAKING CRAP I'm not new to Rory but it's been forever since I played this album and I completely forgot how much it smokes. Anyone that knows me knows I like ENERGY in my music and gosh darn he's got it in spades.
The live stuff on disc 2 from the 2011 reissue of Tago Mago Mushroom 9+ minutes which barely touches on the original 4+ minute piece of genius Spoon which is 29+ minutes which is actually based on Spoon The an <10 minute Hallelujah which is nothing like the big 18 minute studio Side 2 classic Recorded live in 1972 - marginal yet acceptable sound I suppose as it is Can live in 1972.
