For once Im actually listening to the Dead. The cd that comes with Mojo, June 22, is nothing BUT dead, a very nice surprise.

Good one eh? The Garcia Live series has been killing it recently. I'm feeling inspired to go on a "Freedom Jazz Dance" comp with different drummers. Speaking of, check this version w/vox from Eddie Jefferson:
Ahhhh yes, you guys. Played this a few times on repeat yesterday Three tracks of delicious extended playing. Just ordered his new (archival) solo performance just out.
Good stuff! Not to be confused with Strata East. The Kenny Cox albums (the first of which was recentlyish released on the BN Classics but also available on CD with his second BN title) is worth checking out.
Alice Coltrane - Live at The Berkeley Community Theater 1972 Alice Coltrane: harp, acoustic piano, Wurlitzer organ; Ashish Khan: sarod; Charlie Haden: bass; Pranesh Khan: tabla, naal; Ben Riley: drums; Bobby W.: tamboura, percussion So the Ramble on Revival show was a pleasant listen, but this live performance is ridiculously amazing. Well worth seeking out.
Old Saw Country Tropics. @BMac19 and @johnnypaddock talked about this one several months ago. Really nice soundscape and vibe.
I went to gym and took the headphone express to my skull with LA from X. Heart attack? Nearly, the treadmill was going so fast I almost ran off the thing, not to speak of the dead dry heat of the sauna listening to Johnny Hit and Run Paulene, and Nausea. I love these guys! At home spinnning now with a nice companion piece, The Blasters from their Testament collection. With just the right tonic, a double MGP rye with a splash of ginger...
Steve Wynn's (aside from Dream Syndicate) masterstroke. And it has everybody on it including Peter Buck among others; mastered by Bob Ludwig.
Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen when he was 19 w/ the Sonny Rollins Trio: He hadn't yet developed his "famous" (if you're a double bass player) three-fingered right hand technique (which is mind-bogglingly difficult), but that was soon to come.
Fast-forward nine years and he's got the three-fingered right hand technique down and it makes a huge difference in his fluidity. His solo begins at 2:48, and is mind-blowingly ridiculous. Check out Oscar at 3:37, thinking this cat is my bass player.
What a wonderful music, what great choices in the pieces that the great Muddy Waters made at the concerts in Montreux in the years 1972, 1974, 1977. Nice CD packaging, too. Too bad for the audio quality of the CD, it deserved better. Be that as it may ... with artists of this stature, when they play together in a state of grace, pleasure is guaranteed! The Montreux Years
Sometimes, one needs to be in touch with their “Bad self”. LOL. Here is the title song from their debut album - Bad Company
