You mean Snore Cal? No way I'd go to all three. But if I didn't see any of them I'd feel hella deprived.
Willie's latest, doing Sinatra. I liked Dylan's first two Sinatra records but this is better than that. It comes so natural for Willie singing this kinda music. There is one guest on the album and it is no other than Norah Jones. Good choice Willie, bringing in a fellow Texan.
Willie ends the record with My way. Damn! And now, the end is near And so I face the final curtain My friend, I'll say it clear I'll state my case, of which I'm certain I've lived a life that's full I've traveled each and every highway And more, much more than this I did it my way
I love that little box set. Very well done. Sometimes I fell Spirit gets overlooked (a word used a lot in this forum).
I'm not listening to the vinyl edition, but I'm going slowly with this album, evaluating each side. This side gets better each time. The title track is excellent, "Play In The Sunshine" offers some nice unexpected turns, "Housequake" shouldn't be my cup of tea since I'm not into rap, but it's fine, and "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker" ends the side in a high moody note.
So it's time for side 2. "It" could be a bit shorter, "Starfish and Cofee" is great, "Slow Love" is a very good jazzy ballad, "Hot Thing" is another track that could have used some trim (maybe those into dancing will not agree) and "Forever In My Life" could have used a solo, perhaps. In my opinion, not as good as side 1, but pretty good.
Some Patsy Cline tunes. A few Sandy Denny songs but right now another beautiful voice - Linda Ronstadt
Find a way to listen to this ASAP. Highly recommended. Gwenifer Raymond - You Never Were Much Of A Dancer
Bud, when are we getting the Rat Pack back together? It's been so long since I've sipped scotch while wearing a tuxedo while slugging a cop. "That kid’s name was Moe Greene, and the city he invented was Las Vegas. This was a great man, a man of vision and guts, and there isn’t even a plaque or a signpost or a statue of him in that town. Someone put a bullet through his eye. No one knows who gave the order. When I heard it, I wasn’t angry. I knew Moe, I knew he was headstrong, talking loud, saying stupid things, so when he turned up dead, I let it go. And I said to myself, This is the business we’ve chosen! I didn’t ask who gave the order! Because it had nothing to do with business.” @Erik B. lives in Vegas, but he can't join because he keeps calling me "Wrong." Even though "wrong" is his catch-phrase akin to Homer's "D'oh!" Un-Grateful listening: Yesterday and today I listened to an Aerosmith boot called "Houston '77." Some songs are better than others, but they are a fierce hard rock act when something clicks. Then I listened to Frank Zappa's Studio Tan. I leave you with this: Lemme take you to the beach La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la Lemme take you to the beach La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-lahhh Bring the the weenies I'll bring the soft drinks And the cookies Everybody's in love! Lemme take you to a show Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo Lemme take you to a show Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wohhh Eat a candy! You are dandy! Can I kiss you? Maybe I'll just hold your hand-eeee! Lemme take you to the beach again La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la Lemme take you to the beach again La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-lahhh At the freak out Later we'll peak out You're on restriction So you'll probably sneak out!
