I didn't get the impression that you were. I'm merely pointing out that I have no stance on whether the product is in good taste or not, or tastes good or not.
The ad copy just writes itself... It was 40 years ago today that John Lennon got blown away He's being going in out of style but he's guaranteed to raise a smile So may I introduce to you the one and only Whisky Cheer Let's Raise a Glass for the Dear Departed Man
On Paul’s Unplugged album, is the false-start to We Can Work It Out really rehearsed and fake? I read that somewhere...
I know someone who was there and sadly, yes it was. He did the same thing a few years later where he would forget the same part of 'You Never Give Me Your Money' at every show. He never ceased being the cute one
"Standard procedure at EMI Studios at the time was to erase the original two-track session tape for singles once they had been mixed down to the (usually monaural) master tape used to press records. This was the fate of four Beatles songs that were released as two singles: "Love Me Do", "P.S. I Love You", "She Loves You" and "I'll Get You". These tracks only exist as a mono master, although several mock-stereo remixes have been made by EMI affiliates worldwide, including a few made in 1966 by Abbey Road engineer Geoff Emerick." - information taken from The Beatles Swan Songs, as quoted by Wikipedia
“This is the bit where I don’t know the words and I don’t really think I’m gonna bother to learn them by the end of the tour”
I personally like "A Taste of Honey" quite a bit. I do wish they would have recorded "Soldier of Love" but put it on With the Beatles and relegated "Till There Was You" to an EP or b-side. I'd want that swooshy hi-hat sound on it that's all over WTB.
If trashing masters was EMI policy why is Me To You/Thank You Girl, Please Please Me/Ask Me Why still available in Stereo?
I don't remember what is on the album but on the full show that is floating 'out there', they played We Can Work It Out twice in full, besides the false start. They also played Ain't No Sunshine twice as well. There was also a lot more talking and quite a few songs didn't make it to the album. The album has the songs in different order as well.
The false starts are actually different from the CD and the original TV broadcast, IIRC. Cute, indeed!
Not a question. I think Help album is terribly uneven. The only worthy songs of side 2 are Yesterday and I've just seen a face. I need you is pretty mediocre too
Perhaps the wrong thread, but my Beatles question is; what camera is Ringo using in the film A Hard Days Night? My internet searches so far have been failures.
Good question. I think EMI picked a certain amount of tapes to trash them, at intervals, and maybe forgot these in the vaults.
