    Infectious beat, if not addictive.

Only about half a dozen there that I ever bought. The Police and Sones are great but Lindsay Buckingham and Mike Post are the picks for me. Trouble is probably still one of my favourite singles ever. Tanked in the UK sadly.

The ones I have in my collection are...

    Physical - Olivia Newton-John
Private Eyes - Hall & Oates
Why Do Fools Fall In Love - Diana Ross
Leather & Lace - Stevie Nicks (with Don Henley)
I’ve Done Everything For You - Rick Springfield
I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do) Hall & Oates

I probably play the H&O tracks the most.

Great to see Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic in the lead. That’s probably my favourite from this chart. That song just lifts you up.

Here's the Canadian chart, with "The Friends Of Mr. Caro" at #1, a smash in Canada (and nowhere else). At #3...

There needs to be a 'none of the above' option.

That's an interesting chart. I had no idea that The Friends Of Mr Cairo was a single anywhere! Just sticking with the top 25, here are my favourites:

Jon & Van Gelis - The Friends Of Mr Cairo
    Christopher Cross - Arthur's Theme
    Chilliwack - My Girl
Foreigner - Waiting For A Girl Like You
Hall & Oates - Private Eyes
Genesis - No Reply At All
Loverboy - Working For The Weekend
    Triumph - Magic Power
Dan Fogelberg - Hard To Say
Louis Clark - Hooked On Classics
    Journey - Don't Stop Believing

The one band I've never heard of is Rough Trade. Any good?

Lots of interest here. I have 44 of them which was more than I was expecting although I bought most of them in retrospect, given I had only just started getting serious about music in '81.

Quite a few new names on me, in the charts. Never heard of any of these before today:

    Bernadette Peters
    Michael Henderson
    The Whispers
    Bobby & The Midnights
    Switch
    Pieces Of A Dream
    Bob James
    Johnny Lee
    GQ
    Donald Byrd
    Carol Hensel
(not so surprising, given it's an exercise record)
    Skyy
    LTD
    Carl Carlton
    Diesel
    Barkays
    Angela Bofill
    One Way
    The Time
    Slave
    Earl Klugh
    Ronnie Laws
    Roger

I assume most will be within the soul/disco/smooth jazz Venn diagram given they are probanly the genres I'm most clueless in.

The One that most intrigued me was Rainbow - Jealous Lover at #150. That's an EP, surely.

A lot of these aren’t familiar to me either. I know Bernadette Peters is a singer/actress. She had a US hit with Gee Whiz. Think Johnny Lee is a country singer. That’s about it!

I find it fascinating, I kept a close eye on the American charts back in the Eighties too.

Any ideas why there's a four track EP listed in the album charts?

Yeah, me too. I play a lot of SongPop, which is mostly US based as it’s amazing how many hits I’ve missed. Granted they weren’t top sellers, but even some top 40 songs apparently passed me by.:)

No idea why there’s an EP in the charts. Think it’s happened before though.

I was 17 at the time and can't get too fired up about this chart. The Go-Go's tune is easily my favorite.

Happily chose a baker’s dozen and could have picked a few more. Great stuff, but a slight advantage to the Canadian chart due to Triumph, Loverboy, Al Jarreau, and Prism tracks.
