    Great news!!

The master is releasing a new album, to be announced for pre-order on December 07.

Not much info beyond - as always, Vangelis is mysterious. But I'm excited.

Oh, although I was underwhelmed by his last release, I think I'd give this a go. :righton:

I'm with you, Rosetta didnt turn me on... although I enjoyed some parts of it.

I'm really curious about this album, because I thought Rosetta would be his last.

Vangelis finally released a proper space music album in Rosetta and people didn’t like it?

really hope he'll be back with his lush-sounding keyboards and stop releasing bombastic, over-produced, XXI century movie-like albums

I liked parts of it, it seemed to me that on Rosetta he worked with less melodically structured compositions, which is an interesting approach, but not quite my cup of tea. Maybe I need more time on it.

Rosetta was a fine turnaround on that... but his synthpads were of a more subdued quality, when compared to his classic works.

A piano album! No synths, I guess. Hopefully, no bombastic orchestral backings too...

Rosetta was still soundtrack music for the NASA, not an original album.

I thought he said he was done with releasing albums.
I wonder what gave him the idea for this one.

Yeah... not only a proper space music, but to me also one of the best things he's done in a long, long time... maybe since El Greco. While not such an "organic" approach like those of his classsic years, I can hear again some of his astonishing originality in Rosetta. An album for a headset unique listening experience with the eyes closed. To me, he was looking at the enormity of the universe and making music for it, indeed a great work.

And I found also some sublime melodies on that album, especially on the excerpt which goes from "Rosetta" through "Philae's Descent" - "Mission Accomplie Rosetta's Waltz" up to "Elegy", the latter two so beautiful that sometimes I even skip "Perihelion", it's been fitting perfectly as an awesome alternative sequence for me.

Happy to see anything new, or more importantly anything old but now available for the masses. I've run out of releases to buy that are not comps and not limited edition bootlegs. I found a 128 bit mp3 of his limited release Silent Portraits and like that a lot. I'd buy that in a heartbeat, but I'm not going to pay for a unauthorized boot.

Legend has that Vangelis has tons of unreleased work recorded and stored somewhere in his vaults. I bet he could make a sort of dylanesque basement tapes project if he wanted to... I would be willing buy them!

In a relatively recent documentary he said something about composing music every day but being uninterested in releasing it as an album.
He seems pretty disappointed at the recording industry and the music market in general. Not that he's that wrong about it.
The box set was a move fitting the times.

beautiful work. piano and synths, reminiscing of his 80s work! Sounds promising, i'm loving the new track already.
