I get what you are saying. Your issue is that the auction is for a second state unpeeled album, but the coa is validating a third state peeled copy.

That's where I am with this. That's an unpeeled LP and the COA is for a peeled one.

That's what I'm seeing. He's selling an unpeeled 2nd state but the COA is for a peeled 3rd state. In any case it looks like a genuine 2nd state.

the seller is very "unique" and I say that to stay within forum rules--i wonder if the item is even for sale?

I'm surprised a 2nd state mono has been bid up to $1600+. I thought only stereos reached that level.

I'd feel more comfortable as a potential buyer if he stated what the width of the jacket was.

I’ve bought twice from this particular seller, and on both occasions what I received was not as described. I got my money back each time, but now I just steer clear, no matter how desirable the wares on offer.

The description says mon but there's a STEREO sticker on the cover. Hmm... I've never heard of a fake paste over but something seems odd all around.

Any item that relies upon a COA as a selling point, particularly an Ebay auction, should be considered suspect.

I took the coa to simply be illustrating what is underneath, but I also had no idea of the seller's reputation.

The sticker simply states that it's a mono record that can be played on stereo equipment.

The seller has zero negative feedback with nearly 21,000 reviews. Did you not leave feedback?
